Few people they just go on taking the medicines without consulting doctor as if they know everything by seeing the previous prescriptions they have or by asking in the medical shop...It's very dangerous doing so...it has many ill effects on health.....if not now after sometime in their life they are going to face the problem...should be careful...what ever we take should be under doctors advice...one should not keep using medicines for each and every small things because of this resistance power also will be lost. Take care of your health.........good day....

medicine - medicine in tablet form
For fever and headache, I usually take the usual medicines that are available over the counter. For ailments that seem to be "abnormal" and serious, I don't rely on self-medication. I pay a visit to my doctor and have a physical checkup. I take whatever medicine he prescribes. If not, I have myself confined in a hospital for a thorough medical and/or laboratory checkup.

Self medication is allowable only to a certain extent for common ailments. The problem is the common ailments normally have the same symptoms as the major ones and we normally end up wasting precious time in trying to cure ourselves rather than going to a doctor. The flip side of this is that one has to take an appointment from the doctor and it becomes very expensive to visit him for every cough and cold.Hence the self medication.

Yes, there are many of my friends who do the same. I always call up my doc before taking any pill, i'm a lil allergic to some stuff. I'll tell my friends not to take meds until prescribed, thank you for this!

rorisricha that depends on the pills, I take a lot of medications but they are prescribed by my doctor and taken with his knowledge as I have high blood pressure and diabetes, and a pill for pain for my arthritis. but for head aches I just take tylenol and for indigestion I take tums. so no I do not call my doctor for those minor ailments. he already told me to take those for headaches and for upset tummies.for another thing doctors have to authorize medications so you cannot take them unless you need them and have the doctors authorization.
