First thing is to use windows automatic update feature. Or if you want to see what is being updated then you can make it manual update. Windows will notify you when they think there is an update that should be done for your system . Also windows components like media player and internet explorer should be updated regularly. Do update most of the installed softwares as old softwares may give security issues in future.

I think, as you install windows 7, the automatic update automatically is enabled unless you chose not to. In case you disabled it, there is a flag thing in your super bar that will notify you(if automatic updates is disabled) or you can go to the control panel and enable it in there. Once you are connected with the internet, it automatically downloads the necessary updates. Just click the icon when it is done and it will automatically install it as you restart your computer.

Well... Sorry, but Is your windows XP is legal? Coz i guess alot of peoples using illegal software too.. So that when it tried to upgrade there comes problems sometimes... My new computer also using windowsXP right now(but, i think its not a legal software too... LMAO) and i'm also currios about this windows7 too...any suggestion??

I agree that it is worthwhile using automatic updates for such a new operating system because features are likely to change quite frequently. You can always go to the Windows Update website and select what you want, but allowing Windows to run this automatically is far easier.
You can set Windows Update to include other programs as well, which will update Microsoft Office and even offer hardware drivers at times.

Your windows 7, is it a trial version, it is good for only 90 days. after that your computer will shutdown everyhour.

If it's pirated copy or trial version, then maybe you can't get all the features. I believe newer versions of Windows OS has stricter checks on original copies versus non genuine ones.

well, it's too late for me to do that since i lost my OS and the fate of my files are unknown, the only solution now is re-format, in which i am truly afraid of. well, for me, i always use the automatic updates. i thought these updates are supposed to help me. damn, sad news, well moving on i supposed, have a great day
