Yes thats very true.
It has happened with me too.
i'm a girl and yet I get deceived by how some girls portray themselves as..
They appear really sweet and outgoing, but behind the back they're all back biting and way too narrow minded.
I never though of bearded men as dangerous really. I think before judging from the skin tone one must look into the eyes of the person. Eyes tell the truth about the person most of times unless the guy/girl is a DAMN good actor!!

Looks as you point out is not a mirror unto themselves for a number of people.Most of us are very good actors in real life and can give out whatever signals we want to give to the person in front of us.We put on so many masks that the real self is well hidden. Sometimes this goes to far and we try to hide our real personality from
ourselves as well. This happens a lot with movie stars who are so busy playing a star that they tend to forget what kind of a human being they really are.

Looks can be very misleading and we should not lay too emphasis on it.

Perhaps looks is one of the standards needed for first actions. But when we are getting familiar with others, it means nothing. In fact, as the nature of human beings, our looks change all the time. Perhaps you are very beautiful, but then as you get older you will change obviously. It is wrong to treat looks as a key standard to evaluate the value of people.

When people are getting more mature, then they will pay no attention to looks.

I agree with you...looks can be very misleading.
But sometimes looks show us what that person's lifestyle.
How they live and what kind of personality they had.Getting
close to them is the only way to know them better...other than thier
looks...

I believe that is very true indeed and I have met people and then as I have got to know them they have been different to what I initially thought. There was a girl at the university that I went to and she looked a real mess. Her hair looked like it hadn't been combed for five years. She had a piercing in her nose. The had tatty clothes on. She was really a very kind person and ever so intelligent. We have all heard the saying "Never Judge a book by its Cover".

My first driving instructor told me about his nephew. He described his appearance and it was so worrying looking that if he waited for friend in town the police often turned up thinking he was about to burgle a house or rob a shop. A man with a beard can look dangerous sometimes and always it makes him look older than he really is.

Customs staff at airports have a difficult job to find out which travelers are importing illegal items. They will see all kinds of people of every different description. Some people feel guilty when passing through customs even though they are innocent.

People can't choose their looks but some try to enhance their appearance. Some ladies look really innocent and they are not at all. Some men look men look scary but they are really gentle giants. I try to notice a persons personality and interests more than their looks.

hi tutul, it is indeed not proper to judge people by how they look. Some people are not very concerned with how they look either, other people's judgment do not seem to affect them.
Nowadays, it is quite difficult to avoid stereotyping, in our place, men dressed up properly are stereotyped as executives while the ones who dress up poorly are considered irrelevant.
For me, what's important is how you deal with the people around you. If someone is nice to me, whether he is dressed up or not, I welcome him well. But even if he is dressed in tuxedo but he is rude, I don't think he deserves my attention.

Oh yes I have been fooled. Several years back my ex daughter law started talking to this guy on the internet. He photo made him appear to be a rough and tough kind of guy. I warned her of him because of the way that he looked. She didn't listen and now today they are married and have a baby too. He is nothing like his pic at all. He is a gentle and boyish type guy. Otherwords a very good man. I learned from that, looks are not everything at all. Good discussion and have a great day. Keep smiling.

This is precisely why there's the saying: "Dont judge the book by its cover". Many people are quick to judge the appearance of another person. Yes, looks can be very misleading. Sometimes the way people carry themselves is not how they are on the inside.

I have some friends who look like street punks but they happen to be very intelligent and kind people. You just never know. I think we've all been deceived by looks at one point or another.

Yes i agree with you .I myself have an innocent kid like face and my first impression would be that i am a book worm,shy,boring,easy to fool gob (well although i do usually get fooled easily ) lol.And I am the opposite even though i am really boring at times but that is when i dont fit in with the right company,if you put me on msn with a whacked up name,i can fool them in a second,i have fooled atleast 10 people on the internet who still thinks I am a chinese guy in Pakistan selling mushrooms . haha

Hi tutul! I can't agree with you more that it can be very deceptive to judge a person by his look. One's character has little to do with his appearance. Few days ago, I saw a discussion in mylot saying that a handsome guy or a beautiful girl would make one feel well. Maybe most of us would be attractive and pleasant at seeing beautiful things, but there is also saying of "beautiful as flowers and evil as snakes", so we should calm down, otherwise you may be fooled by appearance.
