Shoul I continue to live with my son?  | |  I have been divorced and stayed single for 16 years now. My son is currently 23 years old and his plan is to marry in another 3 years. He has started his own business and is doing quite well. He is planning to buy a big house, and in our discussions, he pictures me to live with him forever. Should I do this?

Skyeblue25 (194) | 2 months ago |  I think it may work if you have a very close bond with your son and his fiancee, but when they are newly married I personally would want to give them some space. Maybe finding a place close to my son so I could still be there for him when he needed me.
I think you need to sit down and talk to him and find out what he wants. Maybe he feels he may upset you if he doesn't include you?
On the other hand he may well want you to be there. Its really something you need to sit down and have a serious discussion with your son about.

I have found that two women living in a house hold is not easy or causes a lot of trouble because we women want to be in control of the house and have our own ways of doing things. Any way talk to your future daughter-in-law before making a decision. She should have more say then your son.

Maybe I should talk to him first and suggest to buy one with separate quarters, so we can all have our privacy? But I will surely do as your advice once he gets engaged with someone. | |

The only problem I see there then is how will the girls he might want to date perceive him? but now days a lot of young people are still living with their parents. Or as in my case grandparents. | |
