I have cable now! What should I be watching?

I have been so out of the loop with what's on cable these days that it's ridiculous. We just got cable again after not having it for about 2 years, and now I am lost in a sea of shows that I don't know or like. Too many channels to choose from I guess (because I became used to only having 2, 4, 9, 10, 23, etc). Now I'm flustered with so many different options (and sometimes having too many options is the same thing as having not enough, in my opinion!) So, as far as American cable goes, what are your favorite shows that I should check out? And your favorite channels?

FX has It's Alway Sunny in Philadelphia which I think is perhaps the funniest adult comedy on TV. They also have Sons of Anarchy which might be more or a male oriented show. USA is running the last year of Monk episodes and will have new issues of Burn Notice starting in January. If you watched Stargate SG-1, you'd be surprised to see Amanda Tapping as a brunette with an English accent as the star of Sanctuary. On BBA America you missed Skins which was a semi-risque show about English high schoolers. They are now running some new issues of Robin Hood and I believe there's more Dr. Who and Torchwood in the works; however, they cancelled Primeval. For USA again, there will be new issues of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, but they fired everyboday except Jeff Goldblum, who they only signed up last year. They decided Vincent D'Onofrio was the wrong kind of character for USA, which to me is a mistake. Also Goldblum played fairly well off Eric Bogosian as his old partner.

himaezee, Congratulation that you are back with your cable. but i wonder why you had been waiting for the cable as there are satellite TV available everywhere. we too had cable connection earlier but now have replaced the cable with TATA SKY a satellite TV. Hundreds of different channels are there and you have no time to watch them all.
