Do you ever forget peoples names?

Woah,we have possibly something in common with that problem of remembering names. I find myself always caught forgetting the names of persons who I just met but certainly I already ask for their names before hand. I then tend to ask myself if somehow I really do have a certain degree of memory gap every time I'm in such a situation. I often regret forgetting the names of those persons. So what I do now is to repeatedly mention their names whenever we are making conversations or saying their names repeatedly by myself. In that way I can definitely recall their names.

I forget names of people only if I haven't spoken to them in a long time. If you forget even those who you deal with regularly, I think something is wrong. Depending on the age it may be normal or if you are still a lot young then a visit to the hospital would help. Apologies if I say something wrong

yes, if i'm not interested to the person. I often forget their names... when, where I met him/her. Not only their names I forget but the entire information about the person. It's like having an amnesia. What is shameful about forgetting their names when you bumped with each other and that person say a lot of things about you and you feel hesitant/guilty to ask her/him "where and when did you met? you're name?" and this person's face is familiar to you and when that person leaves you're bothered because you can't even remember anything about her/him.

Im terribe for this, i often just hope that the conversation doesnt turn to me having to say their name as i think it woud be so rude to actually ask! Its not good as people always remember mine, so why is my memory so bad when it omes to names? My mum also goes through the whole family tree before she actualy gets to my name haha. It can be quite amusing sometimes when she is reeling of names as though reading off of a list! My memory is fairly good in most other areas it just seems to be putting a name to a face, strange. Occasionally, and since two of my best friends have names that rhyme, I sometimes get their names mixed up in talking. Embarrassing!

I forget people names whom i meet rarely.

I forget people's names all the time now. I named my cat and then forgot what I named it lol. I used to remember everything but as I get older it is not the same anymore.

It depends. If I usually see a person but don't really engage in conversation, then yes, I am likely to forget that person. I think it's normal to forget people's names now and then. I don't know anyone who has never forgotten a name in their life.

Oh God! Now-a-days I am facing this problem and I feel quiet embarassed. When I go to my old quarters or to the office in which I was working before, when people greet me, I suddenly forget their names and their identity and feel delicate to carry over the conversation.

Every year, when school opens, I have to learn the names of a couple of hundred new students. It doesn't take long at all, and that always amazes me! I mess up on the names of my friends and my children all the time!
