My daughter for thee past few months really persist on her studies. She is now in grade 3, for the past 2 consecutive grading period she entered into the honor roll, she was excited about it, and she insisted that i should buy ice cream for her because she work hard for her grade and her effort deserves a treat. Well what can i do, she deserved it and ice cream is her favorite, very rocky road in particular. It seemed that it became an unwritten promise, that every time she achieve something in her academics, ice cream will follow...

When I was a kid, my Mom would take me somewhere to eat. In instances where I did great, she'd buy me a gift which normally would be a book to read. Well, at least it's just ice cream and not something that'll burn a hole in your pocket. Sounds like you have a young kid that knows the value of education. I think that's great.

Thanks, i train my daughter to value education the way i value it, so probably she was able to imbibe the energy. By the way she also likes books. Her recent interest is on Geronimo Stilton collection - she love dearly those books. God Bless rgo205!

I'm very impressed. Most adults don't even know Stilton. Congratulations on raising such a very young and intelligent daughter. Very impressive.

This seems like a good and acceptable incentive for a third grader to get good grades. If she deserves it, I say to go on and let her have a nice, sweet treat for all of her hard work and effort! I only wish my mom gave me this kind of prize for doing good in school. All I ever got (and continue to get) is a high five, or a "Way to go!". Massive fail.

When kids keep on doing good and trying to do good in school then I think they do deserve something special. I think ice cream is fine or even a book to read or taking them out to eat at their special restaurant one night or anything. When you do something special for them it makes them want to keep doing good.
