Here in Denmark the traditional christmas dinner is roast duck or roast pork, caramelised potatoes, red cabbage and "risalamande" for dessert. Risalamande is a rice pudding with whipped cream and almonds. There is one whole almond in the rice pudding and the person who finds it receives a small present. "Aebleskiver" tastes a bit like pancakes and I think that they are very delicious The tradional christmas drink is called "Glogg" and it consists of redwine, spices and sugar (served warm). What about your country?

hi Porcospino! Really you also have roast pork! We also have that in here! I love roasted pork and we called it "lechon or litson". I wonder if you roast the whole pig? lolz because we do. My favorite Christmas food are "Hamonado" (sweet ham) and leche flan (my favorite dessert, it is like custard but is more yummy). Happy Lotting!

In Denmark we sometimes roast the whole pig, that dish is not a typical christmas dish, but I have seen it at other parties. Many Danish family eat roast pork stuffed with prunes and apples on christmas Eve. We don't do that is my family, because my father hates prunes, but many other families find it delicios. It is interesing that you have roast pork in the your country, I didn't know that. Leche flan also sounds like a nice dish

Danitykane pretty much said our country's common Christmas food. What I would like to ask you now is how about a recipe of that Risalamande? It sounds delicious (and fun too)!

To cook risalamande you need the following ingredients (4 portions) ½ liter milk ¾ dl rice 25 gram almonds (~ 1 oz.) 1 tablespoon sugar Vanilla sugar 2 dl cream (~ 1 cup) Recipe First you need to prepare the basic rice pudding Pour the milk into a casserole and boil gently Add the rice while gently stirring Let it boil gently for 45 minutes while frequently stirring Cool down the pudding Add sugar and vanillasugar Clean and chop the almonds into medium sized pieces (remember that you need one whole almond) Mix the rice pudding with the almonds Whip the cream and mix it very gently with the rice pudding Eat the "risalamande" with cherry sauce. Clean and chop the almonds into medium sized pieces Mix the rice pudding with the almonds Whip the cream and mix it very gently with the rice pudding

I am a Muslim and living in a Muslim majority country "Pakistan". we dont celebrate Christmas but a little minority of Christians are around us and i have some good friends in them. They mostly prepare sweet cakes for Christmas and i regularly wish them greetings and visit their homes on the Christmas. they offer me the cake and i share the celebration. Now i am planning to visit Denmark in December, so this is going to be my first chance to be on a place where Christmas is being celebrated country wide. Lets see how would be this experience. Will you invite me to join you in celebration, if i could be there?

In the Philippines, some of the Christmas staples are: for the noche buena (Christmas Eve dinner): jamón (ham) and queso de bola (I think this is edam cheese) for the simbang gabi (early morning mass from Dec. 16 til the 24th): putobungbong (http://pinaymtchef.blogspot.com/2007/10/puto-bungbong.html) Sigh. Love this time of the year. :)
