as much as posting is fun in mylot, i'm beginning to enjoy coming up with ideas for discussions, hoping to get as many insights as possible. i was wondering how my fellow mylotters come up with ideas for discussions. mine usually come from my personal experiences while others just come out of left field completely surprising myself even. often times, i get inspiration from what is happening around me, sometimes, it is a popular event that has been in the headlines in newspapers and tabloids. other times, the ideas i get are just silly ones that seem fun to do. so mylot members, how do you come up with your discussion ideas? cheers!!!

Hi Allen, I am more on responding mylot friends' discussions. i seldom make my own discussion. when i make my discussion/s it's more experiential, family-centered, events and specialized topic (reproductive health, fertility, HIV/AIDS)...topics that's very limiting--that's why i am thinking of something that will really tickle the interest of mylot members to respond. I enjoy responding on discussions and comments.

hi msfrancisco9369! when i first started at mylot, i really concentrated in just posting comments in the discussions that interested me. i also posted at discussion that were started by friends and those that have had a good deal of responses already. i started posting discussions in topics of interest like what you mentioned but didn't get the number of responses i wanted to so i started broadening my interest and reading what i can get my hands on. i also tried to looking at what topics generated a good number of responses so i can think of similar ones that i can start as well without duplicating the exact topic, perhaps putting little twist to make it different. cheers!!!

I get ideas on the spur of the moment and if I have time to be able to comment back to those who might respond, then I will post the discussion immediately. Sadly, although it seems that I am always here that is not the case. I have other things that I am involved with and not always can I find a space long enough to be here responding for hours. I hop on and off all day. I get ideas from something I read here or something that happens offline. This morning, while talking with a friend on the phone, I got what I believe to be a lovely topic but I have to leave for work later so there is no point in posting it right now... but I am off on Monday, be warned

I enjoy writing anything about what happened to me in any particular day or about my daughter. If you look at the discussions I have started, you will notice that they talk mostly about my daily life. I feel very comfortable talking about the said topics because it talks about my wht I do. Happy mylotting.

hi doris. that sure is a good way to come up with ideas for discussion topics. it adds a personal touch to your discussions and it keeps you grounded. also, most likely, other members of the mylot community will be able to relate to what you write which makes your discussion more fun to answer and be part of. thanks for sharing this tidbit of information. i'll certainly be more conscious about starting topics that are closer to home. cheers!!!

I generally come up with my topics from news stories or from things that I'm thinking about writing a longer article about. I like to get varied viewpoints; it helps me think about the topic. Some times, the topic just comes to me. I like MyLot because of the free exchange of viewpoint.

hi kdhartford! yeah, i also get my discussion ideas from news stories but i like to limit these to those events that actually affect me. so, really, i post about what is happenign here in my country and i seldom post about events that happen elsewhere in the world. i agree that getting the different viewpoints of other fellow mylotters will broaden one's horizon and in the end we can definitely benefit from this. cheers!!!

Mine are from random thoughts. I just browse topics and when an idea hits, there you go. I don't really go out of my way to find questions to ask. If I don't have one in mind, I don't post.

hi rg0205. sounds simple enough. yeah, random thoughts are great discussion topics as well. sometimes the most interesting topics are those that come out from left field. cheers!!!

I only have three discussions i started so far. Those three came up because those are things that worries me more. I usually enjoy responding to discussions and not creating one. :)

I am more of a responder than a starter of a discussion since I find it easier to do. Its quite difficult for me to start something and follow up later considering that I am not always online due to my work. But when I great idea comes in my mind, then I would post and start with such.

hi jpso138! i was like you when i started at mylot. i was contented responding to discussions and was never really interested in starting my own discussions. however, i think starting one's own discussion is a natural progression here in mylot. as a newbie, mylotters just post responses in other's discussions and then gradually get more involved and starts putting up his own discussions. so far i'm at that stage where i want to start discussions and see how many responses i can get. also, it give sme a great feeling exchanging views with my fellow mylotters. funny, that you should point out that you cannot be online due to your work. my work requires me to be online all the time and ithis gives me the chance to be at mylot a lot of times. proff of the fact... i'm typing this post at my desk. lol!!! mylot... another work benefit in my book. cheers!!!

I used to just respond to other discussions but I've been trying to come up with my own topics lately. My psychology is a treasure trove for ideas. We're always talking about something or other in the class and most of the topics are really interesting because everyone has various opinions about them. I'd then post some of those discussions on mylot because I'm interested in what everyone else's views about it are. Other times I just talk about various things that have happened to me recently at home or work or whatever.

hi saizo6. yeah, i was like that when i started. i was contented posting and responding in other discussions. the first few times that i started a discussion, i got very little responses and that discouraged me a bit but i figured that i'll eventually think of discussion topics that will get more replies. so far, it has worked as i've seen a good number of replies in a number of my discussions. funny, that you should mention psychology. that was my course in college. i finished with a degree in b.s. psychology in one of the city universities here in manila. i agree with you that the discussions in the classroom make good topics here in mylot. i'll definitely try to post a couple of those discussions in the classroom that i had before. it's one way of saying that what you learn in class, you can definitley use in the real world. cheers!!!

You are just beginning to enjoy coming up with ideas for discussions? I have always enjoyed that aspect among several others of this site. How do I come up with my discussion ideas? I walk through this life of mine. I see people walking through theirs, I remember things from my past, wonder about things in my future, and aspects of the life I have lived already are inspiration for new disscussions and I wonder what other members think about these things, and it is always interesting.

I think I get most of my ideas from everyday life. Everyone of us lead a different life and different things happen to us every day. Sometimes things will happen around me and I will think, "I just have to talk about that on MyLot!". Other days, it is just a normal old day where nothing happens. I really wish I had more time to get on MyLot and start and respond to discussions. It really is a blast getting to communicate with different people from all over the world about so many topics!

hi singlemommy. agree with you there. sometimes something happens to me and i just have to make a discussion about it in mylot just to get the insights of others here in the mylot community. other times though, nothing extraordinary happens to me and i just breeze through the day but i still want to put that in mylot. lol!!! putting time in mylot is really one of the keys to be successful here. i usually do my posting at mylot when i'm at work durign the lull periods. also agree with you that one of the reasons i enjoy being in mylot is having the chance to communicate with other people half-way across the world about a wide variety of topics. cheers!!!

sometimes it just hits me out of the blue. i never make it a responsibility to post discussions here (unlike the others). if they're bad topics one doesn't earn anyway. however, there are times i take a chance to post one since my friends aren't turning out discussion topics i can respond to and the mylot digest topics isn't in my liking so i look up the day's headlines and ask fellow mylotters their opinions about it.

hi ritchelle! good points here ritchelle. if it is a bad topic, people won't post there and you can't get a good discussion going. posting a bad discussion topic really defeats the purpose. agree with you there, in times that there seems to be no topic that is of interest to me, i just buckle down and create my own hoping that it will spur interest in other mylotters and i can get a good discussion going. cheers!!!

well, my post are mainly based on what I have observed and experienced. Some of it, like the s e x topics are generally driven by simple curiosity. It is liberating to know what other people has to say or think about a particular topic. Somehow, one way or another, you learn from everything you read here. Have a great day and thanks for the add, my dear.:-)

Since I have just started with myLot, I still sometimes find it hard to start a discussion, but I have started a few ones. Most of them are based on personal experiences too and relationships. Before starting a discussion topic, I try to search first if there is already an existing discussion regarding the topic I wanted to discuss. If there is then I just respond to the existing discussion and just find another topic to start. I'm not all that pressured to start a discussion though because I do enjoy responding to discussions and reading what other people has to say here in myLot. I am enjoying my time here in myLot and this became my rest time from taking care of my 2-year-old.

hi rcombos! yeah, i was like that when i started at mylot, i was just posting replies to discussions and not really keen on starting discussions myself. i did start a few but only in topics that interest me. good point about lookign up similar discussion you want to start before actually starting these,it saves you the effort and time. who wants to reply to the same discussion for the 147,389th time right? lol! i was exaggerating. seriously, yeah, that's something that i did as well before starting a discussion although i did point out before that if i feel that i can put a new twist to my discussion then i do just that and hope that my discussion doesn't get removed and gets a good number of response. mylotting while resting from taking care of your 2 year-old baby... sounds like you're putting this time into good use. cheers!!!

mine is usually come from issue that I often heard in my friends. Sometimes, I get ideas on current events or something that is related to hot topics now a days. It's rare that I get ideas on my own experience unless I become too emotional.

hi raisinwine and joanna. yeah, friends are also a good source of topic discussions here in mylot. i would like to do that if i had any friends to speak of. lol!!! seriously, yeah, even just the banter that friends exchange with one another makes for good topic discussions here in mylot. agree that discussion must be of interest or at least really popular ones during the time of posting it to get as many responses as possible. cheers!!!

I don't start all that many discussions, but when I do, I have to think about what I want to post, before I post it. That is why I really don't start all that man discussions as it is very hard to come up with a topic interesting enough to get responses. If a discussion topic isn't interesting enough, then it won't get responses, and without responses, you don't get anything for your discussion. I wouldjust prefer to post responses like I am now, as it is much easier as I don't have to come up with a topci to discuss. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

hi rosekiss. yeah, that was my concern before but then i realized that getting other mylotter's view on the topic i posted is enough reward for me. in return i try to get back to them like what i'm doing now. i also try to put a good effort in trying to think of original and interesting topics so everyone will chime in and share their opinions and thoughts. cheers!!!
