There are more than 400 islands in Denmark, and I have visited many of them. I live on an island myself (Funen) and that is one of the biggest islands. I like to visit some of the smaller places. Many of the islands have a bridge or a ferry, but some there some islands that you can't visit unless you have your own boat. In 2009 I visited 4 different islands: Fanoe, Bjoernoe, Bogoe and Nekselsoe. Fanoe is relatively big and there are many tourists, the other islands are much smaller and only few people live there.

I live on one of the biggest islands, and there are a couple of different cities on my island. In the biggest city we can find everything that we need for our daily life, and I usually don't have to travel to other islands.
My island is connected to Zealand (the island where Copenhagen is) via bridge, so it is easy to go there. When I was a child we had to go by ferry, but about 10 years ago the bridge was built. When I want to go from my island to the peninsula (Jutland) there is also a bridge, and that is nice. If I want to visit the small islands close to my island I have to go by ferry, because there are no bridges.

I never went to any foreign country. I heard about Maldives so much . I heard it is a small town like country, very neat and the ocean is very clean etc. How was the city? Why not write a few lines about Maldives?

hi buchi-bulla,
thanks for the response, i have been to Maldivies in the year 1990,Maldives is small and its consisted of a bunch of islands, first time i have travelled to a foreign country independently, i think it took near 90 minutes journey from Traivandrum to Maldives, the capital city itself is very small, there is no transport of either bus or train in the city,we have to move the city in car, bike, cycle or by walk, but we can walk the entire city just like it is less than an area in chennai city ,but the city was clean the water also clean and blue in colour the sand also white ,sea food are very popular there, there is only 4 big costly hotels, here private people are allowed their house for visitors,4 persons in a room,i have paid 8 us dollars per day per bed ,shopping also very less, visa will be issued upon arrival, have a nice day

I used to Live on an Island within the Island of Ireland!
I Live in County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, and Fermanagh's County Town is Enniskillen, which is itself built on an Island in the river between Upper and Lower Lough Erne.. There's nearly 150 Islands in the Lough system, and some of them have Monastic sites on them, some are inhabited Year round, others have holiday homes on them.

Hi my friend. I have traveled to many different islands. I was in Queensland when I caught boats from the mainland to Great Keppel Island, Hook Island, Long Island, Daydream Island, Stone Island, Magnetic Island, Dunk Island and Fitzroy Island.
In Malaysia I went to Tioman Island. On my way to New Zealand I flew to French Polynesia, the Cook Islands. Then on my way home I visited Samoa. I flew to the Seychelles and went to Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. I flew to the Maldives and caught a boat to Asdu Island. Then I got on a tiny plane and went to Gan Island. In Belize I caught a boat to Caye Caulker.
Islands, especially tropical ones are special places for me.

We have flown 9 hrs to Phuket Island. It is a nice place and the people are friendly. The hotel accomodations are great and their breakfast ( which comes with the hotel booking) was always bountiful. We spent 3 weeks there. The beaches are wonderful and there are lots of things to buy along streets. The rent of motorcycle is 4€/ day which we took to tour all parts of the island. Really fun and cheap. Riding an elephant was a firt time experience and it was really exciting specially when the elephant walks down a hill.

I have heard a lot of good things about Maldives. The beaches there are awesome, like a paradise.
Just today I read in yahoo that Maldives is now in danger. Before the century ends, because of global warming, the island might sink because of the rising water. I just hope this doesn't happen. I hope people will become more cautious of the environment because we are slowly losing beautiful places for our future generation to see.

I've been to Lesvos, which is a Greek island.
It was one of the best holidays that I've ever been on - really relaxing; lovely food, lovely people; snorkeling most days and the weather was (usually) superb. I'm British, so require it to be "not too hot", but "not too cold" - some rain, but not too much. Goldilocks weather!
