Once you have started your career, have you given back anything to your school?

As the schools and colleges have contributed massively to our lives, have you ever returned back to schools and colleges once you have a job to give back something to the students currently studying.
Recently, I visited a college and did some career counselling for the students and it was a wonderful experience. Especially with the current downtrend people had a lot of questions and apprehensions about the industry. Helping them understand the situation and guiding them on how to prepare for it was gratifying.
Do you have any such experiences?
Cheers!
Ram

Hi Ram,
I did. After my almost two years of work in the United States i went back to my Alma Mater-- the university where i graduated my social work degree, i conducted a week's training on adolescent reproductive health with the first and second year college students. i advocated for teen pregnancy and STI/HIV and AIDS prevention. WE too established a teen corner for related teen issues and concerns. i also sponsored a student to finish her masteral degree in social work.

A nice question, ram. I am ashamed to admit that I have not done anything for my old school or college. I always wanted to do some thing for my old school or college, but some how, it never happened. If I get a chance to rectify this, I will certainly do something.

I do have donated and given back for my elementary school. It was a public school and their new "Home Economics" class don't have enough things for their students. When my batch mates have a reunion several years back, we have decided to donate things that's needed for that room. I haven't given back to my highschool and college schools as they are all private schools, but maybe someday.

You must be very proud of yourself! I have been out of my home country for almost ten years now. But, it's been my dream to go back to my high school and start sponsoring at least two scholars. I believe education is the best thing you can give to some unfortunate teenagers who want to go to school but cannot afford to do it.

Until now, I have not given back anything to my school bacause I am not a successful man. In fact, I must work hard with my own efforts in order to reach my goal.
Although I don't have such a chance to contribute to my school, I really hope that I can give back something to the school brothers and sisters. As you have said above, the schools and colleges have contributed massively to our lives, so, it is normal that we return back to our school and teachers, which is the idea of most students.
If I have such a chance someday, I will try my best to make some contributions to my school.
