I hardly ever raked at my houses I lived at. There wasn't much tree's or leaves to even rake. Now, today, since I am also trying to get more energetic, healthy I decided to go and rake my yard. I was doing this early in the morning, so when the town boys came around, they would vacuum up the leaves. My son was walking to the bus stop and I would rake a section while I watch him and the other kids at the stop. Got done, looked really nice, clean, refreshed.....then....here goes more leaves falling down, covering up my green grass. OK, so why should I do this, for the energy, just for more leaves to fall, to make people wonder the same thing, make me the laughing stock of my street....?????Why do we even rake?

Even though it was a waste of time raking your lawn, you could always look at the bright side...it was still exercise :) I'm glad I don't have that problem with trees in my yard but on the other hand...here in Australia, we are in drought so just about every lawn is brown due to water restrictions & no rain.

Its has been raining here almost all week, one week it will be nice and actually warm for this tme of year, then next very cold and rainy. Then we wonder why we get sick!! So this week, I won't be able to rake because it will be cold and wet. I hope you get out of the drought soon :(

We got a storm last night & it's overcast this morning & I'm about to chance hanging out the washing as I don't like using the dryer...I don't think it's enough to stop the drought as the rain never gets to the water catchments but hopefully lawns will green up for a bit...We have been getting the same thing till recently temp wise....hot in the day & cold enough to use blankets of a night & so the flu is going around here too & now it's decided that we should have summer...the joys of living in Australia lol

raking is part of exercising, and it's good to see homes that are neat and tidy. but if leaves do fall as always, then it's better to wait until all the leaves of the tree are gone so that you'll only rake once.

Yea, it would be nice to wait until all the leaves are off, but I am in town and the sidewalk, well lets just say, the kids could jumped in it and my yard was heaving over. This tree has enough leaves to make huge piles itself when they fall and I also don't think the joggers or kids really liked to walk in such a mess. exercise is good though

hello, xannebull. You have your point there. He has to wait until all leaves fall on the ground to save time and energy but there are some trees that there leaves keep falling for the entire day.like we have in our backyard.hehehheeh

i so know the feeling. we have raked and now there are still leaves sticking to the trees and it makes me want to climb the tree and pull em down! lol! it seems that the minute you are finished raking, you have to start all over again.

I am glad I have a small yard, but I also look at the tree and see plenty more leaves that come down. I would think as much as I raked, there wouldn't be anything left on this tree!!! wooww, think they grow more as the others come off....oh boy.....

I have some mowing to do this weekend. I wait till most of the leaves fall then run over them with the lawnmower. This is good for the lawn and nourishes the grass. It's also a lot better than raking and wasting the leaves by burning them or having them hauled away! So get out your lawnmower!

dry leaves - dry leaves keeps falling.
Hello, charblaize. when i read this one i kinda imagine your situation and it made me smile though it's not easy raking your yard again and again. I do also experienced this everyday. I love to see our place green and clean but these leaves keeps falling from time to time and it was a never ending cleaning. one thing that makes me irritate is the falling flowers can't be rake so i have to use a broom and it so tiring to bend for half an hour. My mom decided to cut some part of the tree but i decline because our house become more expose to sun and also we also currently experiencing climate change.

I really like the tree because its leaves are the pretty yellow and orange. I wouldn't have it any other way, besides if I don't have the tree there I will just see the neighbors house :)) It does get old raking everyday or even every other day, but I am sure I am not the only one who does it. Just one of those vicious cycles of life. If we didn't have the trees, we wouldn't have alot of things, just makes me curious, who even thought of raking leaves to begin with?/? mmmm......:))
