Just another silly question from my kids. But really don't know the answer. Any help from myLotter friends? It may give insights too to other members if someone would ask them this silly question.

He lives at the North Pole, a place famous for not being very red and not having many landmarks that can be used to help one find the way home. By wearing red, it makes him easier to find in case he ever gets lost and his elves/reindeer/toys need to head out into the snow to look for him. Red is also a more "cheerful" colour compared to the icy ice colour of ice and the grey colour of the dark clouds that dump ice and sleet onto the land.

The nearest grocery store is pretty far away. If there's a snowstorm when he's walking back, it's not hard to lose the way since he can't see where he's going.

Hmmm I would like to know that too but in my house he wears purple, I have been collecting purple Christmas decorations for years and I have a purple santa that comes out every Christmas.
