Being successful or happy?

There are some people who are successful yet they are not happy. There are so many well known and famous actors, musician, scientist who achieved their dream, but they commit suicide. Do you believe that being successful doesn't mean being happy as well? Would you rather be happy or successful?

Happiness comes from within so, yes, it's possible to be successful and happy. Big stars live a very isolated life, filled with people who are earning their living off of them, so they lack close contact with those they can trust. Being able to trust and to count on others is vitally important to someone's wellbeing. I would much rather be happy than successful which is why I resigned from a very good, and well paying job, in order to move 1,000 miles away. My husband and I live life at a slower pace with less stress and we are much happier now.

Me either, I would rather choose to live with my family even though I don't earn much. They're the one who bring me happiness, and they always help me to be successful someday. We only have one life and we should live it as much as possible with a smile on our face. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I prefer to be happy than to be successful alone..Yeah, it's nice to have that luxuries but what's the use of that if you can't find happiness through those things? But if you're happy, you're already contented..

Yeah, what's the use of those material things when we can't be happy. What's the use of money when we can't talk to them, and they don't listen. What we need in this life is happiness. That makes our life complete. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

i would love to be successful but if i was unhappy i would definitely rather choose happiness after all when you die you're not gonna exactly have your job or whatever in your afterlife whereas if you were happy at least you enjoyed life and didn't stress and feel depressed.

Hi careguarden. Success is supposed to bring us happiness. Some people are not happy despite being successful because they really have no one to share it with. Success could be enjoyed best when shared. Personally, I would want to be successful and happy at the same time. I am determined to share the success and happiness with my loved ones.

Yeah, you're right success should be shared with someone, or with family or friends who treasure your love and friendship. It's hard to succeed in life knowing that no ones there who will be happy for you, and someone's who truly glad with what you have achieved. People who love us and whom we love are the one who truly give us meaning to success and give real happiness. As long as they're people who's always at our side we can be sure that no matter what happened there would still be someone who will catch up every time we fall. That's why in recent research, there are so many people who are happy even though they're not successful on achieving and living their dreams. It's simply because they're surrounded with people who love them. Compare those people who are successful yet they don't have family and friends whom they will cheer their success. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Hi, careguarden I find every discussion set up by you is really interesting. I read some news today, I found everyone has his(or her) own annoyance, no matter how famous or successful he(or she) is. As i see it, happiness is more valuable than being successful.

Thank you very much my friend for your compliment:-) I'm glad that you found my discussions interesting. Anyway, I agree with you. Happiness is more valuable than success. But often people think that only when they're successful they can be happy. Which is not a good thought and belief. Happiness is a choice the same with success. If someone put off his/her happiness simply because he/she wait for success, it's a waste of time. Other people believed that success always bring happiness. As they work very hard to earn money and be successful, they forget to look after and so lose the things that money can't buy. And that's their relationship with those people who surround them. Anyway thank you for sharing with us Norah and enjoy your day!
