Have You Already Started Your Thanksgiving Cooking?

I have already started cooking for my small Thanksgiving feast for tomorrow. It will just be me and my 3 year old son tomorrow but I plan on making it a special day, if not for me, but for him. I have already baked 2 pecan pies and I have my ham in the oven now. I want everything to be great for tomorrow. Has anyone else started their thanksgiving cooking yet?

That's wonderful. A lot of people probably wouldn't go to the trouble. But looking back to when I was a child, I do remember our Thanksgiving get togethers pretty well. So your son will certainly have a nice memory of it. Not to mention a good day all around.
As for me, I won't be cooking, and this year my mom won't be either. We're (parents and me) all going to go in one vehicle and travel about three hours to see my sister and brother-in-law. She wanted to make Thanksgiving dinner. Although she had my dad get someone to deep fry a turkey, so at least she won't be messing with a turkey.

My kids are with their dad and stepmother (yea!! sacracsim there) We will be having turkey (of course), my absolutely awesome sweet potatoes.... no marshmallows for us!!! Apple crumble pie, mashed potatoes, green been casserole and snickerdoodles... YUM I cant wait!!!! Not a fan of the big dramatic family thanksgiving but love the food.

Hi, singlemommy! How wonderful for you to make your meal as special
with your son!! I have not started cooking mines yet. But, I will cook early in the morning before my family gets up. I plan on marinating my chicken. And here I thought that I was the only one having a small Thanksgiving dinner. It is just going to be five of us tomorrow. I can't wait to spend this day with my family! Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your son!!

Hmm...not yet. But I was going to go and help my mom get everything prepared in just a bit. We just have everything thawing at the moment. The potatoes and stuff are waiting for me to go skin them. Then we'd set everything aside for tomorrow morning.

Sounds like you have everything planned out. That's great! I need to go peel some potatoes myself and start on some potato salad, but I needed a MyLot break.

Thanksgiving is not an Indian festival so I’m kind of intruding here but being a mother myself, I just could not stop myself from saying that its so wonderfully cute that the young man would have his Thanksgiving Dinner with mommy as his special companion…the most beautiful and enduring bond in this world if ever…wish you both many many more such beautiful and special moments of togetherness! Sometimes, our kids are all we need to make us happy and complete and Thanksgiving is definitely an apt occasion to thank Him for our kids.
BTW does the little guy know how special the occasion is? I can just imagine him at the table…but then are the arrangements being made at the table (I mean he cant reach up to it or does he have his special chair?)

i haven't started as much cooking as you have which i'm pretty sure you're excited to be cooking all those wonderful things. i've only cooked the cake and made my favorite potato salad. i was going to do the pasta salad that i enjoy as well but my husband didn't get the ingredients soon enough so i was a little lazy by the time he came home with it. and my husband has marinated the chicken for tomorrow, i try to ask him when he was going to start cooking it tomorrow but he was too tired and feel asleep on me asking him. i wanted to bake a cranberry pie but my husband hasn't tried my cranberry pie before and he doesn't really like cranberries. i never liked cranberries either but i had a pie and i couldn't stop myself from making one after years of craving it. i guess i'll just have to wait and cook it some other time. well happy thanksgiving, i hope you have a great one.

I've not only started it, I've finished it and we've eaten it! LOL
We celebrated today because my oldest son works tomorrow night. He's on security detail at Walmart for the start of the Black Friday sales. I wanted to make sure he gets enough sleep before he heads out to work tomorrow night so he's as alert as he can be when the insanity begins.
So, I baked pies yesterday with the help of my youngest son and the rest of the dinner was cooked today. My husband came home from work just in time to eat with us, so it was rather nice. My oldest son brought his girlfriend over, so there were five of us. My parents are deceased and my cousins are scattered all over the place in different states so having five people at Thanksgiving dinner was so nice!
We have a TON of leftovers for tomorrow, so it'll almost be like having two Thanksgiving dinners in a row.
I hope you and your son have a wonderful time tomorrow.

Yes, we are just having a dinner for my family here I live with, maybe my parents too. We have put the turkey on low in the oven tonight, pies started such as chocolate cream and banana cream, deviled eggs done. I plan to put the ham on in the morning on low since it just needs warmed.

Hey singlemommy! I think that's really nice that you are
making such a nice meal for you and your son! I haven't started
cooking my meal yet! I am dreading cleaning the turkey! That
to me is the worst part of the cooking! I will have to get up
fairly early for me so that dinner will be ready to eat by
around 5 or maybe a bit earlier, but I doubt it! It will only
be me, my boyfriend and my girlfriend and the 2 cats! I have
an 18 pound turkey so it will take 4 and 1/2 hours at least!
I also make my own homemade gravy. The rest of the stuff I'm
making also can't really be done ahead of time so I will have
to just wait until tomorrow and get an early start! Enjoy
your Thanksgiving!

Yes, I have started on my Thanksgiving dinner, too. I am about to start cooking the turkey and I am working on a cherry cream cheese pie for dessert tomorrow.
I always get started on Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner the night before. It will be my small family and we all live together in the same house except for one friend that is supposed to come by for dinner, if he does show up. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Happy Mylotting.

My husband and I just ordered chicken dinners from a local restaurant. They came with a chicken leg, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, a roll, and chocolate for dessert. They were really good. We're in Canada, and celebrate Thanksgiving in October, so it's a little harder to find turkeys up here in November. Chicken is good too. I'm Canadian, and Hubby's American, so we celebrate both.

Oh yes, I've been cooking all afternoon it seems like, I baked 2 pumpkin pies, I'm making meatloaf and mashed potatoes, I've got them all ready to be cooked in the morning, I did it tonight so it will save me prep time tomorrow, since we are traveling two hours to my sister's house. It is now 10:40 pm and I finally get to sit down...Happy Thanksgiving to everyone....

This is late being posted but yes I had already started cooking. When I cook I sometimes cut up the ingredients for the dressing and freeze them until I need them. Cranberries are nice kept frozen until needed. I would usually set the gizzard and neck of the turkey in a small pan and let it cook a while then cut it up for the dressing. I can cut it all up several days ahead and freeze it until needed. Whenever i have spare time.
