What meat are you cooking for Christmas Dinner?

What is your main Christmas meat going to be? Do you always have the same? and if you are vegetarian do you cook meat for others but have vegetarian meal yourself? I am not vegetarian and no one in my family is so this does not apply to me. Every Christmas dinner we always have a turkey. The only variety is whether we have a frozen one or a fresh one. This year as last we are having a fresh one. Some people cannot tell the difference but I think you can tast the turkey more, a lot more flavour instead of water from it being frozen. I have already ordered our turkey from the supermarket as they say they are going to be in short supply this year although they do say that every year. Anyway whatever you are having I wish you a happy meal and wonderful Christmas.

Hi, MAllen400. I was thinking of having ribs and chicken. I try to have something different every year but my recipe can always change. I love meat, this is the main dish. I could not do without it.

Since my family had a huge Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving, I don't think we will be having Turkey again for Christmas. Maybe a nice chicken or ham. There will be a lot of sweets and gingerbread cookies leading up to the meal, but I think that our Christmas dinner will be smaller than our Thanksgiving dinner. Personally, I don't think I can do another huge meal like that for about 6 more months.

We usually do a beef roast at Christmas meal. Sometimes we do ham. When my Dad was still alive I used to make the roast plus for him a roast goose with stuffing just like his German mother used to make. (The stuffing had apples, bread, prunes, raisins and spices) Yum! When we used to do big family Christmas meals, I did used to make special dishes for the family members who were vegetarians. They no longer live close enough to come for family holidays, so I just cook like I usually would. It was harder to make a meal come together when they would come! No cheese, unless it didn't have 'rennet' in it, no eggs, etc. While I loved having their company, it was a hassle to cook so much extra just to keep everybody fed haha. I wish you a most happy holiday this year:-)

We usually have a ham and a turkey. Gives a little variety.
