Today, Thanksgiving is one of the major days of celebration in which families try to get together. How is your family doing with this? My family has become so split by distance that it is impossible to all meet somewhere for just one day. When the Grand kids were in school they got a week off so it was much easier but now some may even have to work today so each little family is just having to celebrate on their own. Thanks goodness for e-mail and the phone. Blessings

Thankfully, most of my family members (that I celebrate Thanksgiving with) all live within a.. 10 mile radius or so. So there's literally no problem, distance-wise. We do all have different jobs, with different schedules, and sometimes they conflict during the holiday seasons, which is the only real issue. My mom works as a data entry specialist, with a normal 9-5 schedule, my sister works nights 7-11pm usually at FedEx as a material handler, my aunt is constantly on call, my cousin works at the ER - usually over-nighters but sometimes on call, and I have 2 jobs - one in the early morning as well as one from about 3-7pm every day. It gets a little hectic trying to find an appropriate time that works for everyone, and even on Thanksgiving, it was a struggle to do just that.

It is a shame families are growing so far apart. It seems the world is getting smaller and communication among different nations and people is more accessible, but communications between families are getting less. Anyway, if anyone has a chance to be with their loved ones during Thanksgiving then they should take that opportunity. Personally, I spent Thanksgiving with my family and enjoyed seeing my relatives. Plus the food was delicious. If you get a chance don't forget to give some of the leftovers to people who don't have any family or friends or means to enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner.

same here. i landed on a job last year and was posted out of town. my sister is living nearby but we seldom see each other as i work and it'll take her hours to be in the city.
this holidays, i'll be spending it in the office. too bad.. hopefully i'm going to be with my sister. this will be my second time i believe. it's sad but we talk from time to time, so at least..

Luckily, my family still together, and I am with my parents day to day. Today is thanksgiving, and I have the perfect opportunity to celebrate with them, and spend at least the dinner time with them together as a family. I really enjoy what we have so far, and we should treasure every moment of it. Thanksgiving is a special holiday for all of us here.
