Do you think that America has become too unmoral and promiscuous?

I personally think so. I think there are WAY too many people nowadays that act too innapropriate. I'm not saying to make everyone cover every inch of their body. But seriously, it seems like people who I consider promiscuous and innapropriate are now being thought of as cool and accepted. One example, Lady Gaga. I like some of her songs, but seriously have u ever SEEN one of her videos? If you havn't, let me tell you, she wears less and less clothing in each one, in one of them she's completely naked and just covering certain areas with her hands. n in every song she seems to talk about a guy's "stick". I think she is such a who-e, but all these people are praising her. to me it seems repulsive. Also how high school girls are becoming more and more flirty and wearing soo much makeup, wearing tank tops n short shorts. It makes me question the morals of both them and their parents. Yet in America, this is perfectly acceptable. And it worries me because it's only going to get worse. in 20 years, this will all be a norm for EVERYONE and i wonder, how could it possibly get any worse? I mean, you could perfectly be flirty and seductive while you act classy. And while you're in your 20's, not teen years.
Also, it seems to me like immaturity lasts longer and longer in our society. Where in the 1800's, you'd be in college when you were 15 and be a mature responsible adult at 20. Nowadays, 20 something year olds are still hooking up, having wild college parties, and doing stupid things that should normally be looked down on instead of saying "oh, theyre just still kids." I don't know, maybe it's cuz im more of an intellectual, quiet person and ive always been more mature, but it seems like this is getting wildly out of control. Do you think so too? Or do you think im overexaggerating?

You're definitely not over over exaggerating. I think the media has a bit to do with it. I think people, specifically artist/celebrities strive harder for attention because there is so much competition. Then, because that's how cultural things work, people copy them. Also, (possibly mainly) people are undervaluing the virtues of self control and modesty. Some people care about attention, money, etc. more.
The last bit stood out to me, the part about immature 20 year olds. I heard someone, she was thirty-something-ish, saying that she used to, when she was in her 20's, steal other girls boyfriends. She said something like "doing that in your 30's, that ,makes you kind of a loser."
So, if you do it in you're 20's, it makes you a winner? I don't think she say yes to that question...but apparently, she wouldn't say no either.

I think Lady Gaga do that just for entertainment. If she don't do that for entertainment. I this she do it for her fans. Lady Gaga ever said when She almost naked in the street, "This is an art!" Yeah.. That's what I remember. Have you watched Britney Spears Womanizer video? She naked too!

Hi wigma not really as the same thing was asked during the roaring twenties and thirties and even the forties, the war years. Yes there are always those people who act inappropriately and who are immoral, and I suppose there always will be. But
you are forgetting how many decent law abiding people do not do these immoral things. You are young and impressionable which is not wrong at all. You have been brought up to have good moral values and seeing people act immoral is disturbing of course. but its no worse than its ever been really. What we all must do is fasten onto all that is good in todays modern America and for goodness sakes we must quit aping immoral actresses and show people. they are not the bulk of our country but they give us a bad name to people of other countries. And I dont think that many mylotter moms would look on these immoral actions as being acceptable at all. I don't know as you are so much overexaggerating it as looking at the trees instead of the whole forest. anyway just keep on being the well brought up young woman you are and be glad you have some moral values. good luck. God bless.

Throughout generations, as people grow older, they remark that morals in society have degraded compared to when they were younger. Perhaps this is because as people grow older they view all the corrupt, thoughtless, and inhumane acts people commit. Or, perhaps this is true, that morals in society have indeed become worse. In this generation, it is often been heard that technology is to blame—first TV, and more recently, the internet. However, becoming a responsible human being often begins in the home, where parents can impart key values to their children. This key value should be so central that any conflicting messages from external sources are blocked and filtered. Thus, technology may have a role in corrupting society; however, it is not totally to blame.

EXACTLY. These morals start right at home. If you looked up at your mom since u were small and she was loose in her morals and didn't ever decry such things, then you wouldn't think they were bad either. But if your parents teach you the right morals and they dont even have to TELL you something is bad. You can tell when they disapprove of something that its bad. So, yes although technology definitely spreads these things quicker, its doesnt cause them. definitely not. I use the internet everyday, yet I am still me. It's the change of times over the years. Every few years there will be a group of people who will go out there and act less and less moral and the amount will grow, it may become cool, and voila in 10 years its acceptable. I personally do believe most definitely that morals have degraded over the years. in the 50's, divorces were so uncommon, girls acted with class, and men were gentlemen. Today, you'll see all these things have changed.
But personally, do YOU believe america is now morally unsound?
