Well if you are anything like me, you're totally exhausted from all the cooking that transpired this past week. I literally cooked for a week..I was testing recipes all week, making lots of things and using techniques I learned in school. I cooked a total of 5 turkeys (no waste however as I donated all to one of the many homeless shelters here in Ft Lauderdale)I made at least 6 different stuffings, adding, subtracting, tasting, it was quite a chore. Then I record every little thing as I am still toying with the idea of a cookbook down the road...The best part was the deserts..I spend 2 days making everything from molasses/ginger crisps to some very fancy pastries that are still fresh in my mind from school..There were a couple of downsides, such as, how expensive the whold ordeal was..food prices just seem to keep rising and rising and this proved to ve a very expensive holiday for us. But the upside was that we had a wonderful family and friend filled day, with enough food to feed an army. I even went to my favorite craft store and bought a bunch of holiday tins so that everyone had a little box of goodies to take home. Would I do it again??Absolutely and I'll take a week off and start allover again for Christmas..This wont be nearly as hard however as I am going to serve a Standing Rib Roast and Baked Stuffed Lobsters, my personal favorite..What about you? Did you slave in the kitchen or go to a friends or do as I used to do while in collegs and order chinese food?

How nice it must be to be so young & feel like doing all that. I think u are a glutton for punishment.lol. I did cook for 3 days but didn't try anything new. I don't know what i'm going to do w/all these leftovers. Thinking about making me some tv dinners. Wish i knew of somebody that was hungry to share with. Have a good weekend.

Hi Antiquelady..Believe me, I'm not young at all..I was the oldest one in my class but was never bothered by it. I went to college and graduated with a bachelors in marketing way back in 1977 and worked in the electronics industry for 30 years. I was laid off in a merger and a major downsize and was literally screwed out of a lot of money. I took a year off and tried to decide what to do next. I'm still young to retire so I went after something I always wanted, cullinary arts..The best move I've ever made. I now work for myself. I do some catering and work for boat captains on beautiful boats out of Ft Lauderdale. I only wish I had realized how much I enjoyed this years ago. The book is a dream, and if it comes to be or not really dosen't matter. It gives me something to work towards and stranger things have happened..Leftovers are the BEST... Hope you found good use for them,,I enjoy the leftover dinners much more than the original dinner!! Thanks for the post.. J

I ended up making tv dinners out of some of my leftovers. My neighbor & friend across the cove had pneumonia & her husband was sick to so i carried some of them to her. then another day i took some of my turkey & veggies that i had frozen & made them a pot of soup & she said they enjoyed it all. Hope u have a good day.

I want to go to your house for Christmas. I did a lot of cooking on Thanksgiving, I did not do a whole lot of prep before hand. I have been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the last 17 years so I pretty much have it down. I did try a little something new with the sweet potatoes and I made pecan pie for the first time, but everything else was pretty standard and things I have made many times so it was a lot of work but not difficult and I am happy to report that the pecan pie came out perfectly.

Hi Lady..I LOVE pecan pie. I love anything with pecans for that matter. I make a pecan stuffing for turkey and/or chicken thats quite good and this year I'm baking cookies for friends which will include Russian tea cakes which are made with powered sugar, flour, 1lB of butter, yes thats right, 1lb, and chopped pecans..You bake them, let them cool and then roll them in more powered sugar and nuts..They are wonderful.. I'd love to have you for dinner and if you lived closer you would be more than welcome. I'm doing all seafood, baked stuffed lobster entree with a crab and scallop stuffing..I've made it several times before and its always a hit..I just ordered the lobsters today and after I got over the price shock, I went on with my day!! Merry Christmas to you and yours and eat good food!!! J
