Man I had to work this morning.... YAY for Black Friday! And of course yesterday w/ it being a holiday everyone eats a lil more than they probably should... Then if you add that I hardly slept, I was a ball of nerves, and I felt like I was going to puke or ??? So being that it was 3am is nothing was really open so I bought some rolaids @ a gas station. It helped a tiny bit but not alot. What helped was time going by.... then I felt pretty decent so maybe the rolaids did work. So I lay down a lil on the couch this afternoon and this huge belch came out..... wich is a sure sign this isn't over with, but I feel ok just exhausted. So since hubby is going to go check out the movie deals @ WM I told him to snag me my old standby.... Ice cream! For some reason that always cures my tummy woes besides a trip or two to the potty. What makes your tummy feel better?

I usually put some baking soda in cold water and drink it, that helps a lot. Rolaids and liquid antacids don't usually do much for me. Yesterday was awful. I didn't overeat because I really tried to stay on my diet but I had a couple spoonfuls of everything. It was the volume of a normal meal but my stomach really got upset and I felt like I had eaten enough for 3 people! I think it was the drastic change in food items.

I've noticed that too. When you eat something you normally don't eat your tummy has a pretty good chance of getting ticked off. I know when we go to Chinese sometimes it really sits wrong with me and all I taste is the cooking oil YUCK!

When its really bad I'll use pepcids..Rolaids or Tums just do't make the grade. If you don't want to deal with medicines all the time then keep pretzels around the house. My grandma used to give them to the little ones to suck on when they had tummy problems and to this day I keep them around because it works..the reason being because they are made with baking soda and pretzels taste much better than plain baking soda and water, which also works quite well but has a funky taste. Also, clear carbonated drinks tend to work well..like sprite or 7up.. Enjoy!

I've never heard of pretzels as a aid for tummy issues. I know carbonated drinks work well in most instances but part of my tummy troubles is burping w/o soda is a symptom of me getting sick so the carbonation would only add to my torment.... weird I know.

I just get me some Peptol Bismol and Tums. This may help me more. You sound like you may have gas. Eating ice cream can make it worse, don't you think?

There are a few things that I try that seem to work. My favourite because its delicious is to chew slowly and eat some candied ginger. It very tangy but sweet and the ginger is good for relieving stomach problems. I also brew a ginger tea that tastes pretty good, especially if you add honey to it. Best to sip it slowly when its not too hot, but still warm. I also find that peppermint tea works for me. I say for me because unlike the previous two that I mentioned, this one seems to vary depending on individuals. The peppermint tea soothes my stomach, but it gives my wife acid reflux, so you may want to try it and see what your reaction is.

Hi this also happens to me after a big meal at a party or something. My suggestion for you is try to eat something that is high in fiber. Like fruits, whole grain cereal, breads etc. Lots of banana's perhaps or take some diuretics. This will allow you to go the toilet. Whatever is giving you trouble will be able to pass, and you should feel better. If you are feeling quite gassy then I recommend some bicarbonate tablets from the pharmacist. This will reduce the gassy exploding type pains. Also what my mom used to give me when I had a tummy ache was some quality brandy often a table spoon. Now, I don't know if this was a mean tactic on my mums part to get me to stop whinnying but it certainly helped!

Unfortunately the only thing that makes my tummy better are stomach medicines. My stomach is pretty delicate, so I have no other way. I would love my stomach to feel good with ice cream too

Coca-cola. Someone told me it was because it is carbonated, but other soft drinks like Dr. Pepper and Pepsi don't have the same effect. Coca-cola works for my stomach upsets and any nausea I have.

I have learned that the best thing is to not over do in the first place, but when I do have certain kinds of stomach problems, its a sign of my pre-ulcer again (have had it 3 different times now) and getting on serious meds, some anti-biotics and avoiding dairy are the best things, if I can't also get rid of what is causing the stress that makes it flair up. Dairy, it seems, is hard to digest and if you do have an ulcer or a pre-ulcer, you need to stay away from it - including ice cream (no matter how good it feels at first!)

I don't know any "home" remedies, really. I always take tums or rolaids whenever I get a stomach ache. I've been hearing a lo t about beano- the medicine to prevent gas- lately, but I never plan on eating rich or junky foods, so I never know when to take them. w
