When you rate....

That sounds good. Don't you think that sometimes native English can help other people/who are not native English/ to learn something? Sometimes I am confused when I want to say something, but I don't know the right words to say it. I use online translator to help to translate some of the words, but the big fun is when I am not sure that word who translator gives to me is really right word. And sometimes you wanna say something but you may say another word which means can be different

I try to help but in the guidelines here it states something along the lines of do not tell people about spelling errors well thats not what it said but thats how I interpretted it! The English language is so hard there are so many words which have different meanings! I do wish I could help people a bit more but I dont want to break the guidelines or sound like a know-it-all

I understand... Now I see why I have never seen on My Lot people to talk about spelling mistakes.

Mike, English language is one of the easiest languages in the world. And the most people know some words on English - even that people never means to know that language. Most popular songs are in English, we watch MTV, CNN, we watch a lot of movies and that is how we learn some English... But that is not enough to became English expert
When we read and post on forums like My Lot we also learn new words.

I always thought English was one of the hardest languages to learn but I wouldn't really know as I'm English so grew up speaking it.

I get students asking me to help them with their homework and believe me it is really difficult to explain why certain things are done the way they are. So many words spelt the same too with different meanings depending on the context - ick!

Of course it's not so easy to learn language. It's hard but English is more easier than another languages. In English one word can mean a lot of things. That is why I don't have to use more words..if you know what I mean... If I type one sentence on Bulgarian and then if I translate it to English - English version will be shorter than Bulgarian...
With a good teacher everyone can learn Engl. for 2 or 3 months. I have some friends who are leaving now in London. Before move in London they toke some English lessons and they said they learned English easy.
Of course, you cannot learn everything - there always will be more and more to learn.

As you say even if we are writing wrong the central idea can be guess. It is most important - to try to understand the opposite.

So I think that grow angry to any participant and miss guess is our limitation. We should encourage them who are participate in our discussion. Rest depend on the view of myloter.

I love to rate discussions and answers too. It is good that you never got irritate from someone's misspellings.
Sometimes this can be funny. A friend of mine is not native Bulgarian and when he speaks I always understand what he is trying to tell me, but It's so fun to listen how he is speaking!

ha ha.... thats happened with me too.. one of my uncle speaks in really weired because he is from other state... so he doesn't know our language. but still he always try to speak in our language.. but really in funny way.. ha ha

He-he! You know what... I think I look like my friend when I try to post or speak in English. I am laughing when he speaks weird Bulgarian, but the native English maybe laugh when I spoke...

And yeah - if someone hate to read discussions or answers with misspellings better to take a book...
But here at My Lot we are all over the world... Indians,Bulgarian, Spanish etc ... and a lot of us don't know English good, but we wanna be a part of My Lot.

well.. if you really wanna look good, you would have to chose your friends carefully since you run a high chance of getting rated by them than other mylotters.. so if they are the kind that wouldn't forgive silly mistakes then you'd have some hard time getting your perks up.. enjoy mylotting..

Yes, I know. But I really hope that my friends will get mad because of my spelling mistakes and will rate me negative.
Good new is that everyone who responded to my discussion is saying that the spelling mistakes are not important.

Well I think that everyone who is writing here will try to write understandable sentences.It's good that you are appreciate effort in answering.

I speak and write in English and Italian and would go to forums in those languages but no others - never ever!

Yes, Corry - it is a spelling checker, but when you write 'boring' instead 'bored' spelling checker don't work at that way...

When somebody is trying to do the best that he/she can he must be 'awarded' no matter if he/she make some spelling mistakes.
