Have you ever fallen for something that you feel silly about now?

I think time shares are justb a rip off. i never bought into one but my mother did. By the time u pay the maintance fees etc. u could go somewhere nice for a week & not be bothered w/having to keep up w/the time share. We literally gave hers back to the co. just to get rid of it when she passed away. None in the family cared anything about going where her's was but her & that was because she was so stubborn she would have never admitted she screwed up by buying it.

We pretty much realized it the next day after we crunched the numbers. The seperate everything out so it does not sound so bad, unfortunately they only gave you 24 hours to cancel and it was around the 26th we have our reservations and they would not let us out of the contract. We did go on two very nice vacations using it and we had really nice condos each time, but in the end we ended up giving it away to get out of the maintenance fees.

All the time! From now on I trust my first instinct/reaction, never buy anything "as seen on TV" and wait before buying anything and really thinking it over. It's just way too easy to give people money for something when you think it might be what you want or need and then later realize it doesn't really live up to its promise. And, when I do waste money on stuff we didn't really need, most importantly I don't try to beat myself up over it - there are so many people trying to make money out there and so I figure if they managed to con me, then I guess they deserve/need the money more than I do and hope they will put it to good use :)

My wife and I also fell for the whole time share thing too. My wife loves to travel, we were told we won a prize and just had to sit through a demonstration. It turned out to be a time share. We were newly married and they brought out these huge books with the very nice pictures of all these locations we could trade for. My saw my wife's mouth watering and wanting to please my new bride I said yes. We figured out fairly quickly it was not really a great deal especially when we were never able to trade for what we wanted. We let them dictate where we went on vacation for a couple of years and then finally gave the darn thing away.

I fell for a trillion different lies when I was with my now-ex! The best lie I fell for was when I found a picture and a phone number of some chick in his wallet. He told me that he had met her in the Bahamas during one of the Navy's trips there. He said she gave him her phone number and picture because she was a diamond salesperson. He had the number because he was planning on calling her to buy me a diamond. He told me to call her if I didn't believe him.... of course, I didn't really believe him... but I didn't call her either because he made me feel so guilty for thinking bad thoughts about him! I should have called!
