[b]What follows is a snippet from the latest news about the "Pink Slip" campaign, which is headed by WND, which had an original goal (begun only about 3 months ago!) of 5 million slips sent to Congress. In a few short weeks, however, it swept past that goal, & then the paper mills responsible for printing the warning slips ran out of pink paper!
The mills rushed to produce more. Meanwhile the angry public kept ordering more. So many more that the stack of pink paper dwarfed the Washington Monument, & now has surpassed the Sears Tower! And still more orders are coming in!
And now, along comes this:
Pink-slipping Congress wipes out paper supplies
Mills ramping up to make more, all designated for campaign
WASHINGTON – For a second time, the supplies of pink paper have been wiped out across North America by a true grass-roots campaign to send pink slips to members of Congress, warning them against support for the health-care takeover, big spending, hate-crimes legislation and energy taxes.
If stacked, 8 million pink slips would be more than half a mile high. Add yours to the pile.
WND got notification yesterday of the shortage – which already is being resolved – from the printer of pink slips that have been streaming into Capitol Hill by the millions. The latest count was more than 8 million.
"The WND pink slip campaign has wiped out ALL Hammermill pink paper supplies in North America," said a campaign official. "All pink paper resources throughout the country were pooled to ship to our printer for production of pink slips.
"Other than small quantities already in stock at print shops and retail outlets, no other pink paper is available for purchase since it is currently on back-order," the official continued.
"Hammermill's mills are ramping up to manufacture more pink paper, ALL designated for WND."
The campaign, however, had stockpiled enough paper for the most recent deluge of pink slips, and the new manufacturing efforts are expected in time to meet the next surge, officials confirmed.
"We'll go outside the U.S., if necessary," to get enough supplies, said Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND.
Farah, who organized the campaign with WND columnist Janet Porter, says the campaign has been picking up since a half-dozen members of Congress held a press conference recently to announce their support of the effort – an event that was covered widely by television and print reporters.
So! Go to World Net Daily (WND.com I believe, but just Google it if that doesn't work) & send off your own pink slip, or just read & confirm everything said here, if you wish.

I can think of a better use for that paper and a better way to get a point across to congress.
But, here's a link to help support what you posted.

People are willing to pay $29.95 to mail a letter to all of congress, but not willing to chip in to help the community?
Priorities?
Anywhere?

The difference is simple. People CHOOSE to spend 29.95 for this program. The government FORCES us to pay taxes.
People on the right donate more of their own time and money to charities themselves, while people on the left, especially our president and vice president, want to donate OTHER people's time and money while being stingy themselves. Biden's a millionaire and gives less in QUANTITY, not just percentage than I do every year. Obama's selections for cabinet positions and czars can't even pay their own taxes much less donate time or money to charity.

We wouldn't have to have so many charities if healthcare were guaranteed as a right.
As posted in my thread, I think the top wealthy should be responsible for this, as it is the middle and poor class who helped them get to the top.

That's a load of bull. With the exception of those who inherited their money, rich people worked their way to the top. Ted Waitt started Gateway in a barn. Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila started Alienware in a college dorm. John Schnatter started making pizzas for minimum wage at 15 before eventually founding Papa John's.
These people got themselves to the top by working their butts off. Poor people weren't buying Alienware or Gateway Computers and John Schnatter is rich today because he wasn't content with being a minimum wage worker.
It would be a sad nation if we didn't have charities which are far more efficient and are largely staffed by volunteers who do the work for free because they CARE, not because the government is forcing them, and yes, Obama wants to force people to "volunteer", something I consider slave labor.
Tell me, when was the last time the "government" granted a terminally ill child's wish? Give Kids the World and Make a Wish Foundation do it every day.
The idea of making healthcare some sort of civil right is a joke for more reasons than I can explain to such a close-minded person as yourself.

I gather you don't watch much news!
It"s all about millions of people telling Congress they'd better shape up & stop screwing up the economy (among other things), or be "fired" next election. Thus the pink slips messages, printed on pink paper, which are swallowing Congresspersons' mailboxes!
Yeah, I know, politics. But hey, it's news! Big news! And Congress is running around in scared circles over this peaceful, but stern, protest.
Off soapbox, now. You're safe! It's okay!

I have been following this movement since it started and the original goal was 5 million now I believe it has passed 8 million. As one of the politicians pointed out at the press conference is that it cost the subscribers $29.00 to send a pink slip and that this is a lot of money for unhappy people to spend in this economy. It was also pointed out that this is the first press conference regarding the "pink slips" where the news media was in attendance and although it is not being publicized in the media there is plenty of talk about in congress, behind closed doors and in the elevator.
Here is a clip of the press conference:

Sorry but I do not get the connection between homosexuals and what this campaign stands for?

Whiteheather - Both you and Maggiepie know that I, too, employ the same congress. Right?
There was a similar campaign last year, in which 705,000 letters were sent to senators by the christian right opposing charging killing a homosexual due to the hatred of homosexuals a "hate crime".
They were afraid that calling it a "hate crime" would make homosexuals a protected class, open up new charges on old crimes, and subject ministers to charges of committing hate speech when they degrade a homosexuals inalienable rights.
So, the senate that works for me supports equality, and calls a spade a spade. Killing a homosexual because he is a homosexual, is, in fact, a hate crime. No matter how you care to dress it. No matter if you try to disguise the Matthew Shephard law as the "Protect Pedophilia Act". (Even though 95% of pedophiles are heterosexuals).
And, lets face it. If a christian minister uses hate speech, or denies a person their civil liberties, then you are a homophobic person discriminating. Don't blame god. Blame yourself.
-----
Now, the pink papers, that are a mile high - that is wasted paper. Go waste your hours standing in front of their buildings, or protest, or make phone calls, or whatever, but why waste the paper?
And the money you wasted? Geez.
And then those same people cry-baby because they have to help support healthcare for all?
The people who work for me are going to mandate healthcare for all, and place it as a right. Right now, they have to tweak it, and tax the top wealthy, and not the middle class, but all will fall into place.
Quit trying to threated my employees.
