lately, there was a news reported that there is now a vaccine to combat H1N1 virus. but how and where can we get this vaccine? is it safe? is it sure to combat the virus? will it not give secondary problems to the body? i heard from one person that he does not want to get the vaccine asap due to its mercury content. this may cause problem to the system. another guy whom i told about this idea contradicted it though. that he mentioned the mercury is just a very little amount to preserve the vaccine. well, whenever it comes, i hope i will get the chance to receive it.

I work on a busy hospital ward so was encouraged to have the vaccine at work. (I also tick a couple of boxes on the medical conditions list so have the annual regular flu jab). I had the vaccine about 15minutes before I started an 8 hour shift.(about 3 weeks ago) The next day my arm was quite tender and a little achey. I was a little bit snuffly for a day or two but thats all. I really dont know how much protection it will offer me.

thanks for sharing the experience. i do hope we will have that same vaccine available as well in the hospital where i am working. actually i do work in a hospital as a physical therapist. unfortunately, the vaccine is not yet available here. so far nobody informed me or anyone that there will be available vaccine for anyone from the hospital. the only postings in our bulletins are about the prevention and awareness campaign on the disease. and to confuse me more, the hospital has prepared a new ward or unit for the fever cases which directly concerns about H1N1 cases or suspicions.
