Do you think that the mood and attitude of the cook can affect the quality of the cooking? Also, that whether the cook cares about who they are cooking for affects what is served up?
I've found that the best cooks are in happy relationships and care about those they cook for and the worst ones are in unhappy situations and resent having to prepare and cook food for those they live with.
I wonder if this is a deliberate, unconcious or entirely coincidental thing. Have you experienced this?

I think the mood affects. When I am not in a good mood, the attention I give to my cooking is not much. I just want to get it over with. In most instances 'though I do my best to come up with a good meal so that those who will eat will be satisfied. And I'm happy indeed when they say they like the meal I did. When there are special occasions in the family, the more I do my best to come up with delicious food that we all enjoy. I have not experienced deliberately coming up with bad cooking. Unconsciously, yes, if my mood is not good.

Hi blestrella: thanks for your answer, sounds like i was right. I think that when people have are not in their mood they just simply want to finish their work as soon as they can, they will think about their problems, etc so there's no doubt it's not the same when you feel ok and basically in a good environment. Have a nice day.

Yeah, I certainly believe that in a normal setting especially if done in inside the household by a family member who are in the mood to cook the outcomes is likely excellent while if the cook is not in a bad mood she could cook but the result is likely not good. I already experience it as when I am truly inspired and not get tired i cook with labor of love and eventually the results is magnificent and all the family who taste my serving are all praise in my cooking. While, if I am pressure to cook and not in the mood it is likely that the result is over salted or bland in tastes that likely to receive lots of criticism. While professional cook like the chef in restaurant never let their temperaments affects their cooking method or else they would eventually get fired for work ethics neglect to fulfill their function very well..

Well, I have not experienced this as because I love cooking. Even on days I’m very tired or just plain lazy, whatever I cook has to be done with patience and love. Maybe I sound unnecessarily poetic but to me, each dish cooked is akin to a painting…just the way you start with an empty canvas and fill the colours similarly for me, I start with the basic ingredients and each step after that has to fall in sync with the larger picture LOL
When I particularly don’t want to cook anything at all or my mood is really really BAD, I settle for packaged food or order from restaurants. But when I’m cooking, it takes all my attention and love.

Hi, Hvedra!
I guess so. When someone is cooking for the people s/he does not like, s/he probably won't cook with her/his heart and just prepare whatever food to serve them.
I never have that experience before though because I only cook for my hubby and family, the people I love most. Sometimes when I am in a good mood, I can become creative of what I will be cooking or I just cook something for everybody to eat.
If I am not in a good mood, I will only cook some simple meal where I don't have to think so much what I shall cook on that particular day. However, I will still pay attention to the taste of the food before serving even though I am not really a good cook.

Yes definitely. Cooking is an art and like all art it expresses the emotions of the person who makes it. There will be people that whoever they cook for they will always make their food exceptional and are the most innovative and daring like Chefs. Then there are cooks, who produce the same food every day all day that may become bored and finally families, who cook with various degrees of skill because they have to. I think if someone loves to cook, the cooking in of itself gives enjoyment and that someone enjoys their food is enough. For someone who dislikes to cook, anything no matter how simple will be a chore, though they may be able to make complex and even tasty food they don't derive pleasure from it so they will not give it that little bit extra.

I have the same feeling, when I'm happy and have good mood, I will plan to buy something first, and cook delicious foods, however, I will not have any mood to cook for those, maybe who let me felt angrily. I experience this.

Hi hvedra: I have experience this and i am not sure but i think attitude counts a lot. If you are happy or in a positive attitude you care for all the details. In the other hand if you are angry, or you have troubles, you have stress you won't feel good doing what you do and that's reflected in the final result. This usually happends with my mom and i can tell you that she cooks delicious so i think that same rule applies everywhere. Thanks for opening this discussion. You think the same way as i do about this important thing. Have a nice day.

This is a nice topic to discuss. Well, in my opinion sometimes the mood of the person really affect the food that they are cooking. I love the movie entitled "simply irresistible"... this film is about a woman who loves to cook, and the taste of her cooked foods depend largely on her mood and motivation to cook. If she is depressed or in bad mood while cooking, then the food taste like no good in it. While if she is very much happy cooking and motivated, the food then taste its real goodness. In real life, it could also be possible that this things will happened.
