Well of course when you celebrate Jesus Birthday you are celebrating Christmas already. Christmas should be like that a celebration with Jesus because that is suppose to be His day. Many of us are confused already having Christmas as like those having large parties and gift giving and completely forgets the real meaning of the day which is the birth of Christ and not the parties and gift giving practices that many do.

Yes I guess that is it. Most of the things we are used to do are just symbolic of Christmas but celebrating it with Him is what is Christmas is all about. The baby in the manger with farm animals and with shepherds on a silent night is all about Christmas. I guess that is the real essence of what Christmas is all about simplicity and tranquility and not the noises that abound in our celebration of Christmas. Prayers are I think the best gift for Him. I am celebrating my Christmas with my family back home and from there we don't have celebration like others do we eat simply and celebrate it with my family and after that we usually attend mass on Christmas day. I think that is required on that. The parties are just a distraction of what Christmas is all about.

I can think of a lot of people who are extremely religious and conservative who are doing the same thing, not so much because of financial problems, but because of their beliefs. There may also be others who are doing this because of the current ecconomic situation.

I think that you can celebrate the birth of Christmas even without the gifts and lots of food.Christmas is really Jesus' birthday. He is the reason why there is Christmas.Christmas is not a reason to buy lots of gifts or party all night.Christmas is really celebrated in the heart.

There have been a few years at my house that my parents haven't really had the money or time to go shopping for gifts, and almost every year at my grandma's house, we get one or two good gifts and a birthday cake for Jesus. I really think it's better that way.

Yes, for the essence of Christmas is the joyful celebration of the birth of the Savior and Our Lord Jesus Christ. Its date is not important, what is important is that He was born and we should be joyful for what He has done for us who believe in Him. The blood of Jesus Christ is sufficient for all, but efficient only for those who believe in Him.

We actually had alittle extra money come in this year so we were able to do something this year. Usually it is as you say. With the kids getting bigger it isn't that big a deal anymore I don't think. When my grandmother was alive Christmas was always at her house and was very special. More than twenty years ago now.
