I do think that names have some meaning or characterizes in some extend the person having that name. In the Bible, God would change a person's name, when his life changed too. I was named after my great grandmother. And when I became an adult, I was the only child in the entire big family who inherits her looks and talents. My brother has a name after a hard headed figure, and yes, he too became impossibly hard headed. But I think it's not only the name, but your upbringing and circumstances do play a significant role in building your character.

Well, my name is "Pamela" and one of it's meaning is "beautiful from the inside and outside." Look at Pamela Anderson from Baywatch...ha ha (LOL). But seriously, when I tend to get bad tempered at certain days (when everybody is doing the wrong thing in the office)...sometimes I remind myself that I should show qualities that's beautiful from the inside. And yes, by reminding myself, it makes me soften up a little bit.

Hi!
I don't feel that a name has an influence on one's nature as mostly our names are kept by our parents and at that time who knows what our nature is going to be.Our parents keep our name because they like it or feel that we possess or must possess the quality our name possess. My name is 'Aadesh' which means 'order' but I don't pass orders in real life,in fact I receive them from my friends :D.If someone keeps your name on one of the Gods that doesn't make you a GOD but yeah our parents keep such names so that we can have the qualities that is associated with that GOD.I think our name just specifies a particular quality and if we abide by that quality it gives our name a worth :).Have a good day, take care!

Yeah you're right in some context but I love both my name as well as my nick and I still don't feel that my name has ever influenced my nature or character. It is just a name which my Mom Dad felt nice about and decided to give it to me,the name wasn't given to show my nature or character to others. Its your behaviour that influences others and not your name :).

aadi yeah its true that name fully influence you nature but to some extend. and like your name meaning is order so its nothing say that you will give order only,it can be you can take orders also, depends on your capabilities so to some extend it can effect and to some extend we can wipe it out also by changing out intentions like we use one username different from our name on internet which we suggest because that name is our symbol and to tell people your image which you think real about you and also put a display pic which can tell not full but surely about you.

In our culture names are given to babies right away without knowing anything about the child. It is a random selection according to the parents' wishes at the time. Allegedly my first name came from an uncle with above average academic credits, and my middle name from an uncle with above average athletic ability. I think I turned out more philosophical.
It is a relatively common name, Michael. Its etymology comes from Hebrew, asking the question "Who is like God?" I suppose that can be philosophical ...
I heard of some cultures where they don't name the baby right away. The just refer to one as "Baby" or "Child" until the naming ceremony after a few years to have a better name that actually describes either the personality or a significant event that happened. My mother tells me I screamed a lot, and couldn't figured out why until I was 18 when she heard about a condition that some babies have that cause great pain at every touch, when the nerve endings didn't quite develop all the way before the birth. I wonder what name they would have given me if we lived in such a culture.

I don't know about the majority of people who have common names, but I do think that my name, because it is unique, and I think pretty, does have an effect on my nature. I do love my name, I love that it makes me an individual, and it helped me in tough times when in middle school I didn't fit in, and girls named Jessica or Stefani etc. were cruel to me, the made me cry, but I had a glimmer of confidence in myself because I had something unique about me, where they had nothing.....and now that I am older and wiser, it is even more prenounced, those girls are JUST ANOTHER SHALLOW JESSICA/STEPHANIE/BRITNEY, etc,,,,that amounted to nothing except too much money spent at Abercrombie and Fitch, I am Breelyn, lover of animals, Harry Potter, a few tv shos, wonderful cats, loved people deeply, want to be a good person, cry at sad stories, and people actually remember my name when I am introduced because it is different. I would not want any other name but my own, you couldn't pay me to change my name, I love it, its different, like me, and I love that.

Name does has its impact on ones nature.either it could be a psychological feeling which we think that our name is so and so and we should possess the qualities related to the name.Or it could be that as we have such nature in us we are called with such and such name.

Hi vitamin55, i also feel that no absolutes but to some extend if you consider your name or like you name very much then it just effect you or sometime if you got famous name which were respected by nations then unconsciously people start respecting you also i think.
