One of the most cherish Christmas tradition in the Philippines, is attending the Early dawn mass or "Mesa de Gallo", the nine early morning masses are preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. Just this morning I attended the mass, waking up as early as 2:58 am with my friends and went to the Cathedral. I can feel the joy from deep within and a peaceful mind.
To all Filipino Catholics: Have you attended Early Dawn mass? do you managed to perfect the nine morning masses?
Philippines is the only Catholic nation in the world which celebrate Early Dawn Mass or "Mesa de Gallo" at Christmas season.

I have completed Misa de Gallo several times when I was in high school. It was pretty hard for me to continue the habit by the time I entered college and even harder when I started working. I miss those times when my sister, my mother and I woke up really early to hear these masses. Older people also say that you can also make a wish by the end of the novena mass :)

Hello!
Me too, find it very hard sometimes to wake up very early in the morning and go to the church, but right now I really tried my best to attend and hopefully, to complete the nine novena masses for peace of mind, because I am currently undergoing a heartache that seemed like an emotional torture that I need help from God. :-(

This does sound like a very beautiful tradition for the nation to have and I would love to have the opportunity in my life to experience it. You said that these take place for the nine days following Christmas. It sounds like a tradition to me that really needs to be adopted in other countries with the Catholic church in a great deal of dominance. The Mesa de Gallo would definitely be a tradition that I would be happy to take part in.
