I'm shredding of a dream Christmas

I have to share this, I went into the bedroom a little while ago and found Willy in the middle of the shreds of wrapping paper that they managed to reach through the crack in the closet door.
Khuay immediately hid under the bed, figuring he wouldn't get into trouble. I hate to admit that there was no way that they would get into trouble, I was too busy laughing!I am kind of worried about the Christmas gifts when the are under the tree, but in the past they haven't bothered them too much so maybe there is hope for the gifts.

Just watch out about the ribbons. Cats can get into chewing and swallowing them and that can lead to emergency surgery or worse. One of my cats does that with the kind of ribbon you can curl. Stick on bows are safe, I read.

I have an Easter card that says "It ain't Easter until you find Easter grass dangling from the cat's butt..."
I don't use curling ribbon or tinsel for that reason. I have had too many of the cats eat the stuff and either barf it up or I have had to take them to the vet or pull the stuff out of them while they're hopping across the floor like bunny rabbits. A couple of years ago I had to get after my grand daughters because they were playing with the cats with tinsel stuff that was on a wire and they thought that it was funny that the cats were trying to eat it! Then they left the stuff on the floor so the cats could eat it. I informed them that if the cats ate it THEY would get to pay the vet expense. I am so very careful with my furry buddies. I finally bought a house plant a few weeks ago, because I could hang it up out of their reach. My furry buddies are more important than anything on the face of the earth! I feel that they were put in my custodial care and I need to take care of them like they were made of antique porcelain!!! Everyone gets a kick out of it, because I don't spoil them in the least bit. Murphy, the Lynx Point Siamese gets cream every morning, and it's warmed for precisely 9 seconds in the microwave. In the winter she gets it served to her in bed! But she is 16 years old so she has earned the right to be spoiled.
The rest of the lot are just as spoiled. Including the dogs. I buy chicken and turkey that I cook in the crock pot for them. I add veggies and noodles or rice and it gets added to their dry dog food. I also make them home made dog biscuits. A neighbor came in just after I got a batch out and grabbed one and ate it before I could tell him that it was a dog cookie! He liked it so much he ate 6 more...I finally told him that they were dog cookies and he looked at me and said that they were good enough for people and that I should take them to our home owners association meetings. He grabbed another 6 as he was leaving and walked down the driveway munching dog cookies.
Oh, this year I won't be using stick on bows. Willy discovered them and likes to chew on them. I don't want to take any chances on him. All the ribbons and bows are stored away in a sealed container so that the cats can't get to them. I don't take chances with any of them.
Thank you, THANK YOU, though for posting the warning. Hopefully other cat people will read the warning and not use tinsel or curling ribbon because of their cats. Also NO, ABSOLUTELY NO poinsettias!!! They will kill a cat faster than you can spit! I haven't had that happen, thank the good Lord, but it does happen to cats every year.

I read recently that poinsettias aren't as bad as they are reputed to be, but I'm not taking any chances. I feel about my cats the same way you do, though I don't spoil them quite that much!
Or maybe we do, but in different ways. We built elevated walkways in certain areas of the house. Literally catwalks! They are like shelves with low sides and have carpeting on the top for traction and comfort when they want to lie down on them and enjoy the elevated view. You know how much they like to find someplace high and look down on everyone else! The walkways connect with tall bookcases and a living room display cabinet. We put washable throw rugs/bath mats on the top of those for the cats to lounge on. We cut a hole between the living room and the kitchen so the cats can go through and enjoy the tops of the kitchen cabinets and more walkways in there. Yeah, we're nuts, but it's fun!

HEY LOVERBEAR....OH MY GAWWWDDD!! That photo of Willy is just priceless!!
Too bad Khuay wasn't in it too..LOL!!
Isn't it funny how our darlins amuse themselves with our stuff especially this
time of year; I'd give anything if I had a video camera I'd love to catch
Screamer in the act of knocking the ornaments off of my Christmas tree each night;
Lord that cat goes wild in there as soon as my head hits the pillows its just
so funny I lie there in bed talking to her while she is batting the ornaments
across the floor like a soccer ball;
GREAT PIC!! LMAO!!

Willy has this fascination with the "greenery" on the wreaths and the tree. It ought to be interesting as I just bought a 7 foot tree to decorate. I bought it at Lowe's for 50% off the already 25% discount...so either they will be climbing it or pulling it over. Last year I got to listen to ornaments fall..but at least I bought all acrylic ornaments.
You can be certain that there will be more pix of the pair. I get such a kick out of both of them, I haven't owned such a huge pair of clowns ever! Oops, here's Khuay, he has learned to "talk" and he's in my lap talking like crazy! I think he's telling me to send you hugs and kisses from him!
They will be very happy as I am going to be setting up to do some sewing while my BF is up at his daughter's house. They love to be in the middle of what I am doing, especially when I am sewing! So you know there will be pix of that!!!
Take care,
L & H

Hahaha! Are you sure that Willy is guilty? Just look at that face! I think he's been framed!

You're right, Willy was framed! He was in the wrong place at the right time. He is really good about getting his pix taken, but Khuay is also a huge camera hog but he disappeared when he thought he would be in trouble for shredding the wrapping paper.
Willy always has that "I'm innocent" look. Even when he's caught doing something he shouldn't. But he is the laid back member of the pair. When he was a kitten he was the hell raiser and Khuay was sooo shy. They switched places when they were about 5 months old.
I do keep forgetting that I do need to keep the tissue paper, wrapping paper and paper towels out of paws reach...

LOL--you're two cats are a riot. Thankfully I've never had this kind of problem with any of my kitties. Maybe Willy and Khuay were trying to find gift wrapped boxes for them??? Nice when kitties "help" though, right? The only thing my past kitties might shred was the toilet paper

What's really funny about the pair is that they haven't bothered the packages at Christmas YET. I'm not holding my breath this year. Khuay and Willy also have a thing about clawing boxes so it might be different this year. Plus Willy has shown interest in the boughs of the Christmas tree (it's fake) and loves pulling it over (it isn't decorated yet that happens tomorrow).
Fortunately they haven't discovered the toilet paper yet. The empty core is fair game, which they happily chew apart and also shred...
I am sooooo crazy about Willy and Khuay, they are so crazy and think up the strangest things to do...

Very funny! LOL... We have a kitten named Hercules and he decided to go into the bathroom yesterday well, he was in there a long time. I finally decided to find out what was going on.... There he was pulling the toilet paper off of the spindle and shredding it as he went. I think he wanted it to snow again, so that he could play with the snow flakes. We live in south Texas and had flurries a week ago, I watched this little guy chasing the snow flakes for well over an hour, he had a ball. I think he missed that. lol

I had a cat that loved to shred toilet paper...It would really piss my parents off because when they went into the bathroom and reached for the toilet paper there was confetti!
I would hear a LOT of swearing in the bathroom. I tried so often to tell them if they put the roll on the dispenser the cat would tear it up, but if they set it on the counter he would leave it be. The information never did sink in.
With the cats I have now, fortunately they haven't discovered the joys of shredding the toilet paper! Tissue paper, paper towels and wrapping paper don't stand a chance.
I wish you could have video taped Hercules...it would have been a riot! It's like the time I caught Khuay (the guy in my avatar) shredding the paper towels. I laughed at him the whole time, and the more I laughed the crazier he got with shredding the paper towels! The room looked like a major winter snowfall event when he finished. And people wonder why we love those little furry fiends!
