WIC and Doctors

So, I recently had a baby, and at everyone's insistance I've went and signed up for WIC (which I never did while I was pregnant) to get help buying the baby's formula.
Well, my son has to have special formula (Similac Sensitive, because he is lactose intolerant) and when I first went to sign up for WIC they said they could give ME vouchers, but since my son needed special formula he had to have a "prescription" for it from the doctor which he SHOULD have given me when he saw my son, but he didn't.
So, we went BACK to the doctor and got him to give me the form we needed for his special formula on WIC.
Well, the doctor had left off one code on the form, and the WIC people still wont give me vouchers for his formula. They said I had to go BACK to the doctor and get him to fill in the code.
I am so annoyed. It is taking a lot of my time running back and forth, not to mention I keep having to take my very young son out in the cold ever trip to the doctor and to the WIC office.
Why can't the WIC office call the doctor and get him to fax them a new "prescription" so that this will all be over and done with?
Or, better yet, why didn't the doctor to the right thing the first time? Or if it just slipped his mind, why didn't he do it right the SECOND time?

I think that is terrible and as far as I am concerned your Doctor should fax it
Here in the UK if my Nurses need me to have Meds they will phone my Doctor and then when they get back to the Office they will fax a copy of the Prescription through
I do hope that you have it sorted by now

I've had doctors fax in or even call in my prescriptions for everything from antibiotics to pain pills. Thats why I don't see why he can't just fax a "the baby needs special formula" confermation to the WIC department.
Still not finished. I'm not making a second trip. My MIL bought me some formula to keep us for a little while longer. My son has an appointment on the 21st. Hopefully then we'll get it done and done right!
