Political books - need some help!  

I know this was a year ago, but I found it when searching for discussions about Howard Zinn. He passed away one year ago today so I was trying to find any. I'm going to admit to you, I don't know a whole lot of Republican writers, because I don't normally read any conservative books. The only conservative author I can think of is Ann Coulter, but I think even most conservatives have said she's not their cup of tea. I may be able to help you with left wing stuff. Democratic, socialist, anarchist, etc. I read the ones that you discovered (Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, along those lines). I actually like both of them, but I'm aware they aren't for everyone. Sometimes with political books, it can tend to go on and on about the same thing. Noam Chomsky's daughter, Aviva, writes books also, but hers (at least the one I read about immigration) was more straight to the point. Naomi Klein is another, but I also think she's another one that might not be for everyone, but it is a suggestion. She is an anti-globalization writer. Arundhati Roy is another anti-globalization author, but she writes about other stuff, but she also writes about other issues. Voltairine de Cleyre was an Anarchist poet and writer. Some of her stuff is available on Wikisource. A good place to discover left wing authors and books is a site called AK Press. (http://akpress.org)

One political author that I just found out about, but haven't tried out yet, is Ram Swarup. He was a critic of communism, Christianity, and Islam. He also had an interest in Paganism. I'm going to try him out soon. Anyway, I'm not sure I helped you out much here (especially since I don't read conservative books), but I hopefully did a little, even if it is a year later!
