Do you ever feel like there's too much importance put on FOOD (and the over-indulgence in it) around Christmas time? Or Thanksgiving-time? Or Easter? Or birthdays? I could never really understand this, actually. And it was always a pain for me because I always tried to undermine the "importance" of food at the holidays, mainly because food has always been an issue with me (Ask any ex-ED NOS and they'll tell you the same thing), but also because my family seems to be OBSESSED with it. Never has there been a holiday that didn't involve over-indulging, getting exhausted by cooking so much, and LEFT-OVERS. It's like, besides presents, our whole holiday is centered around FOOD, FOOD, FOOD! And this bugs me. I can't articulate WHY this bugs me, but it does.
Do you ever feel that "food" is emphasized way too much during the holidays? Overdone? Why do you think this is, and do you ever feel uncomfortable around so.. much of it?

In my family, holidays are often centered around food and honestly it is one of my favorite parts. Yes I love food, but even more than that I love the sense of community that comes with everyone pitching in and providing part of the meal. Everyone proudly brings their first class dish and then everyone gets to share in an incredible meal while catching up and visiting.
For me, food is an intigral part of any holiday celebration. And keep in mind that just because your family if OBSESSED will food and over-indulges doesn't mean that you have to. You can put as much value on holiday food as you think it warrents and then concentrate on the other aspects that you think are more important.
Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!
