Memorable gifts....

What is your most memorable gift that you ever received whether it be for Christmas or another occasion....I would say that mine would have to be a blanket that my kids (with husbands help) made me for my birthday. It is a fleece blanket with frogs on it that they decided to cut and tie the edges. I love that they put so much time and love into and what made it extra special was how they managed to get it down without me ever knowing LOL....

When my grandmother was in her last years she began to give me gifts at Christmas of things she knew I loved of hers. She gave me her old primer from her school days dated in the 1890's. She also gave me several of the old antigue christmas ornaments I had put on the tree for many years and loved dearly.

That is great celtic I lost my grandmother 11 years ago and still miss her everyday. When all of us grand kids were young she bought us all blankets with animals on them mine was a blanket with panda bears on them. i am the only one out of us grand kids that still has the blanket and I actually just put it up in my sun porch the other day. I was also able to get a few of her sweaters that she wore, my favorite is this one that us grand kids made her with all of our hand prints on it in paint and with our names under it. they may not seem like much but I am so glad I have them. If I were to choose another memorable gift that blanket would definitely top the list and I am now wishing I had chosen that one.... Thanks for your response celticeagle and Happy holidays

Well, the first thing that came to my mind when I read your first sentence was a Christmas gift my dad got my sister and me about seven or eight years ago I think it was. He drove us to a place that turned out to be where they gave helicopter rides. So he had us taken up at night to have a helicopter ride around the city so we could see the Christmas lights at night from the air. It was incredible.

I know we love to take our kids around to look at all of the lights here in town and I know that is pretty great so I couldn't imagine going up in an helicopter and being able to see the lights. Where you able to get any pictures? Thanks for your response ambie and happy holidays

Are you talking about an actually working stand up fountain or are you talking more of a table top type fountain? That would be really cool either way and I like how they both came together to get it for you... Thanks for your response gabs and happy holidays

My Step-father hand-made me an absolutely beautiful jewellery box, that looks like a tiny wardrobe. know the ones I mean? It's really nice with a couple of doors in it, and some drawers, a place to hang necklaces... it is one of the most beautiful things in the world, and on the top it has a plaque that says "to Leah with Love, Dave" I got that in 2001.

It looks exactly like that, same kind of wood too, but no glass in the door. The plaque is on top. It's really nice.

I was away from my grandmother since I was around 7 on my mother's side...long story but we were reunited..another long story..lol..anyway our first Christmas together I decided to do her a photo album of pictures past because she had missed so much of my life. She did the same thing! She made me a scrapbook! We were both delighted with our gifts.

Scrapbooking is a great craft just because like in your case it can take you back in time to all the memories lost, forgotten or unknown. Did either of you know that the other one was doing this for the other? If not that would be pretty weird and awesome all in the same...thanks for sharing jen

Mine was one of the wedding gifts that my husband and I received when we got married. It was a handmade stained glass clock that my dad's youngest brother made. It was very touching to me because the stained glass that was used for it was glass that my dad's older brother had originally bought to make a clock of my parents. Unfortunately, he passed away before he would make it for them. After he passed away, my Uncle Denny took on the craft of stained glass. It made me cry on the day of the wedding when I saw it.
