Have you ever thought what it would be like if Jesus hadn't been born?

I thought about that last night. I don't think we would have a democratic republic (or what used to be one) here in America if Jesus hadn't influenced the world--we would still have a rule of tyranny or our government would be very different. Our founders were deeply spiritual and religious men, convinced that they had rights given to them by God Himself and that those rights were being violated by the king of England.
We would probably still be under rule by England or we would have our own king and be ruled without representation. Well, we pretty much are now but that's beside the point. Jesus' birth got men to thinking in new ways about God and instilled a new attitude about rulers.
So what do you think would be different today if Jesus had not been born--or if all His teachings fell on deaf ears?

Hi, dragon54u. This world would be a very sad world, I must say. Nothing would be right. People would have no morals and discipline for themselves. People would be very unfair and do bad things. We have laws and rules that we all must abide by. If Jesus was never born then these laws would be incoherent to mankind. I would hate to think how life would be without Jesus. It would be a cold and bare life. It will almost be a life like it is empty.

We had a wonderful world for quite awhile because of Him. However, we are losing our moral base and have become selfish and self centered. I wish He would come back and remind us all of the wonderful lessons He taught. The Bible talks about the End Times and they sound a lot like today's world.

Just out of curiousity, what makes you say that??
I find it funny really that ppl (some of course not all) actually believe that it was god/jesus/christianity had a POSITIVE influence way back in the day...when it was actually the opposite..the ppl were FEARED into believing or at least pretending to believe..Much like society today is FEARED into many of the mindsets that are had in the world....
to answer your question though, I think the world would in fact be very differet but in a more positive way then what its like now..

It is sad that our history is filled with so much fear. It seems to the tactic of many persons, even today. Coercision is seen everywhere today, especially in our capitalistic society. Very sad indeed.

Well I have heard many people say that the later reign is coming and everywhere I look I still don't see a church like that the disciples were in. Rome was democratic republic and they still gave up their freedom out of fear, much like we are doing today. If Jesus had never come than we wouldn't be condemned today. The truth is people know the way to act now because of things he did but no one does it completely. Lets just pray God stays merciful.

I believe that God is a good parent and that His justice will be merciful. There's not much longer left, I think, when I look at what the world has become.

Well, I suppose I've never given it much thought. I grew up Roman Catholic but am now Pagan. I see Jesus as a man who did offer a great many spiritual ideas, but those ideas like so many of enlightened masters are misrepresented. The bible as we know it is a book, simply that. It's full of many errors and is not the True teachings of Jesus. I believe there is much we can learn from his teachings, but I do not think we need to discount all of the other enlightened beings that have graced our earth.
I suppose we would then have to start asking ourselves where we would be Gandhi had not been born, Baba Gi, The Dalai Lamma, and so forth.
I think if Jesus had not been born, man would have found a new deity to put their stock in. It is just the way of man and you find this as you study the history of peoples.
Namaste,

I mentioned Jesus because Christmas is nearly here and it is designated as His birthday--except it's supposed to be in the spring! I think it's the Catholic church (?) that started Christmas to offset the pagan celebration of Solstice.
Yes, it's true that there have been so many good and wise men and women that we learn from and who sacrifice for the betterment of mankind.
