Harry Reid "If you didn't take a bribe, you're not a good senator"

Ok, so I'm paraphrasing, but that's the basic gist of it.
Regarding the bribes used to buy votes Reid says those who missed out on the perks can blame themselves.
"I don't know if there is a senator that doesn't have something in this bill that was important to them. And if they don't have something in it important to them, then it's -- [it] doesn't speak well of them," he said.
What do you think? For those of you whose senators were bribed for their votes in states such as Nebraska, Louisiana, and Vermont, do you think they did the right thing? Do you think that it was worth it for them to bribe senators with federal tax dollars? I've already seen a couple people on mylot say they don't like the bribes, but it's worth it to do whatever it takes to get this bill passed.
If your senator didn't take a bribe, do you wish he/she had? Do you think Ben Nelson, Bernie Sanders, and Mary Landrieu are better senators than your own because they got something for their vote whereas your senator simply voted based on what he/she thought was right?
Simply put, is there anyone here who agrees with Harry Reid?

i was under the impression that there is a lot of corruption and bribe taking among your politicians (no, i'm not digging at america, corruption in politics is pretty widespread) that has been going on for ages? it coming out more into the open is possibly a good thing.

you probably heard recently about all the dodgy expense claims (which have been going on for ever) finally being exposed here. to the much deserved embarrassment of all the mps (i.e. nearly all of them) involved. exposing corruption is step one in stopping (well lets be realistic and say reducing) it.

Now that you mention it, I think you could be right. With it out in the open and Harry Reid actively bragging about it maybe this will finally push people to vote him, Nelson, Landrieu and others like them out of office and actually take an active role in learning about their candidates to prevent goons like this from getting into office in the future.

Every Senator that took a bribe (sold their vote) is nothing less than a protistitute.
They betrayed themselves and their constituency when they traded their votes for favors.
This is just another example of government corruption.

Two personal stories I have that can relate to this, one recent and one a long time ago.
When I was a teenager (okay, not that long ago lol), we knew this girl who decided that, to be "cool," she'd start writing bad checks for her boyfriend and a few friends of ours. Well, my buddy (her boyfriend) would tell us all, "It's free! You're stupid if you don't come!"
We didn't care because it was free. She didn't care because it was free. She realized the consequences and the trouble that might arise, but she thought it wouldn't happen to her. Of course, I'm certainly not innocent. I got a steak dinner, cartons of Newports, shoes, and about $400 worth of crap that I really didn't need -- but as long as it was with other people's money, I feasted.
I think she did 2 years flat, paid a lot in restitution and her name is forever scarred. And the worst thing that could happen for Reid is he loses his "job" and gets picked back up by someone else on the far left and is paid even more.
My friend asked me the other week why I gave government such a hard time but didn't suit up to fight capitalism with the rest of the commie cronies, basically.
I told him that I'd be EXTREMELY ticked off if someone broke into my house and stole my television set. But I'd even mad beyond all reason if, when I called the police to report it and catch the guy, all they did was lecture me on how bad he is while secrectly helping his crook friend on the side, and on the way out, they steal my car and laugh.
Government, I thought, is supposed to act as protection against crooks, not become the biggest crooks around! If there was a large reported bribe of this scale in the private sector, you better believe Obama would suit up, call up one of his pocket press networks and go chastise them severely on cable TV. Not to mention seizing the opportunity to take more control. And don't even get me started on all the "change" and no more "business as usual" and the "status quo" bla, bla, bla.
Meanwhile, millions upon millions of people in the country justify this garbage by citing how previous politicians did it. (Yet, ironically, the planet jumps a degree years ago and there's a frenzy to strike at the problem before it supposedly spirals out of control. I don't understand people, but that's another debate.)
FRIGGIN' SMART BUNCH WE ARE!
