I have got two dogs called Secret and Magic. I took them to see the vet yesterday. He told me Secret has tar tar on his teeth. He suggests Secret comes in for a scale and a polish at a cost of £109. I think cleaning his teeth twice a week should have kept his teeth in better condition.
What do you do about dental care for your dogs?

Hi max! I haven't went to the vet for my dogs' dental care ever since. My dogs doesn't like that taste of toothpaste. They tend to drool so much if I brush their teeth. They look pitiful if they keep on drooling. I give my dogs apples, they love it. I think it would make their teeth clean. Happy mylotting!

Hmmm, nothing, because Bella wont let me clean her teeth. There are special doogy treats one can buy that help with teeth cleaning, but she wont eat them either.
I did manage to find a good brand of small dry bits that she seems to like, that supposedly help clean her teeth.
However, I think the damage is done.
I suspect that very shortly I will be up for big vets bill.
How do you manage to clean your dogs teeth? Does she/ he cooperate?

I have not brought my dog visit any dentist before, does the vet do it for the dog? It's quite expensive for the scale and polish.
I usually give my dog some dog chews, which is said will help to clean his teeth. My dog likes the dog chews very much, and she can finish them in just a few minutes.

I think I wouldn´t be able to pay such care for my dog, Maxine. It is difficult even to pay for MY dentist bill even if the dentist is one of my closest friend´s daughters and she gives me special prices.
What my vet suggests as a way to clean my dog´s teeth is to give her bones to chew. Round bones are wonderful. How old is Secret?
Hug!

I don't know the difference between the US dollar and the pound, but that seems bit high. There are a few dog bones out there that help to get rid of tartar. Maybe you should try some of them and see what happens. But then again, you won't want to wait to long and have Secret start to lose her/his teeth. Go to PetcareRX.com and see what you can find there. I found some great treats for some of he family dogs! Hope this will help! Merry Christmas!!

Hi maximax..I think that the whole idea of taking dogs to a dentist is ridiculous. If you feed your dog properly including good bones on a regular basis, I see no need to take them to a "dentist" Dogs have survived just fine for thousands of years withoug going to the dentist and they will survive thousands more. If your dog developed a mouth disease, like gingivitis or something similar, then thats different.but a normal healthy dog's teeth will stay clean if you give them one of the many teeth cleaning bones that are on the market. You will be saving a lot of money and will have a much happier dog than a dog that has to go through a unnecessary procedure. In the supermarket, ask the meat mgr. for some marrow bones. They are very inexpensive and dogs love chomping for hours trying to extract the marrow which they love. Good luck and Merry Christmas to you and your "best friend"!

Hi! I haven't do anything till now, just because I didn't think about it, but I also don't know how to take care, because in my country there are only several clinics for dental dogs care, and they are not so close, but I also think a dog needs a dental care only if it suffers from some ache and I haven't seen any problems with mine dogs!
