Have you ever texted someone who was in the same room with you?

I really don't get this one. There is no reason not to say what you need to the person in the room, am I right? Unless of course you are hiding something.

I don't text because I don't have a cellphone. But I do remember in the old house when we had both computers set up, and they were right next to each other, my husband and I did IM each other when we needed to talk about something the kids couldn't hear. We also IM'd each other when we were visiting my friend in Ottawa, I was on her computer and he was right behind me on the laptop. I can't tell you what we talked about that time, lol.
Years ago when we were first dating there were times we'd be chatting on IM and talking on the phone at the same time. Mostly we were just being silly when we did that.

That's why people do it, its the electronic way of passing notes or talking about somebody when you don't want them to hear.

Sure, sometimes you don't want todeistract other people or it is something you don't want to forget.
Sometimes, it is because it is something you said out loud that would cause a problem.
I have chatted with my son online while we were in the same house.
One time at my sister's I chatted on the computer with her, my hubbie and my nephews and we were all in the same house, it was so stupid we could not stop. We did it because we could!

Hi ersmommy? I already texted someone in the same room with me. The reason why i texted him was to be her friend and be closed with him. It's really funny that i got shy to say it personaly, that's why it's better to text her. With simple word ''HI'' it gives a thousand of meaning to someone. Especially when the point is you like that girl.
Well, I already experienced this kind of situation and you know where? In our boarding house near school. We have a borders and she was really beautiful and I find him very attractive the way she looks. Days are past and still i really like him, but the problem is we do not have a chance to talk. Then i try to search for her number and texted her. Luckly? We got words! And we became close to each other when the days are passed.ΓΌ

Haha, actually yes. I've actually texted a person that was right next to me before xD It wasn't that I was hiding, but it was because it was in the middle of class and our professor was lecturing us and I was too afraid to actually turn to try and talk to my friend so I texted him instead. I thought it was a lot safer than gettng called out by my professor in front of everyone. Plus we were sitting in the back of the room so he couldn't really see our phones. I usually text people when they're in the same room because we're either in class and we can't exactly talk to each other, or because I'm really bored and I just want to have a little fun with texting. Sometimes it's because I do want to say something I can't say to other people so I guess I am hiding something sometimes, but for the most part, it's because I'm in class and we can't talk.

Yes you are right that people can just talk to the person instead of texting.BUT it really depends on the situation. There are many factors like boredom, class, others around, etc. So it really depends on the situation in which the texter is in. It doesn't necessarily mean the person is hiding something.

I don't text, but I know one reason why someone would want to text another person who was in the same room. When I was in college, several of my classmates would be texting back and forth during classes. It's a way to communicate when you're not supposed to be!

The only person I've ever texted when we were in the same room was my husband, and it was just to joke around or say I love you. It's not something we normally do, but occasionally just to be silly or sweet. I agree that in general, it's pretty pointless to text someone that you're with. I've never understood why people do that unless like you said, you're hiding something from someone else in the room.

There are times where I've done it and there are multiple reasons for doing it.
First off if your friend is talking to a guy that isn't good for her you text her to give her an excuse to leave and give her a heads up without causing a scene.
If you're in a place that you shouldn't be talking in and you need to stay silent and you want to tell your friend something you text them.
If you're on a bus and you don't want to talk aloud about something personal you text the person.
If you need advice about the guy you're talking to you text your friend to see what she thinks.
Texting is there for when we don't want to talk and its an easy way for things to not be as obvious.
