For those of you who saw the series finale of Monk, Randy Disher is off to be the police chief of Summit, NJ. He's also hooked up with Sherona (yay!). I've been routing for him forever! He's way better than that stupid Trevor who she married twice which you should never do in my opinion. Once you get divorced, it's better to stay that way because people don't usually change.
But, as my assistant said, poor poor Summit, NJ. But, I think that Randy will rise to the occasion. I think in San Francisco he was more free to be a screw up because he wasn't actually in charge of anything. There was always Stottlemeyer, or Monk, or someone else to cover for him when he had a "Randy" moment. However, there won't be anyone to do that for him in Summit. I'm actually going to look up if Summit is actually a real place. If it is, I wonder if they paid the show to mention them or if the show paid them. Hollywood is a funny animal.
I really hope that they do T.V. movies about Monk and he gets letters from Randy to say how he's doing. I think they should do a T.V. movie called "Sherona and Randy Gets Married" and Mr. Monk has to solve a murder at their wedding. That would be so Monk like.

I loved the Monk finale! I found it a bit unbelieveable that Randy would become a police chief, but I don't mind because it's a TV show. Monk has never been about being realistic, everything about the cases, characters, etc has always been a little (or a lot) over the top.
But you make a good point, Randy probably will rise to the occasion.
Did you know there is also a series of Monk books? I wonder how many more there will be now that the show has ended.

I know that the character of Randy Disher had to have some smarts or else he wouldn't have made it through the police academy and become a plain clothes detective or a lieutenant. I just have a problem with the writers thinking that we are convinced that he could all of a sudden become a police chief. When you think about it, he only had one case that he solved and that one was the one in which he had a blind date with a lady (Moon Bloodgood) whose family owned the Chinese food restaurant. Remember that Monk had seen someone get shot in an alley when he was touching the antenna of a car and the bad guy saw him? Stottlemeyer had taken him into protective custody and they went to a safe house? Long story short, Monk solved a case of the murder that happened on the camping grounds of the safe house while Randy, "Monk-like" ("here's what happened..."), solved the other case and found out that his girlfriend was in on the ruse to find out where Monk was hiding.
It's just hard for me to believe, but maybe you're right. He didn't have to think much with Monk around and he wanted to test his wings to see if he could do it on his own. I really miss the show and haven't watch any reruns. I might search the internet to see if I could find that episode to watch it.
