I caught part of a news story about a Senior Democrat Senator who was complaining about the stress on his family with the late night sessions, weekend discussions and now they will have to stay in town Christmas Eve to vote on the bill.
It must be stressful to take your wife on a fact finding trip, at tax payer expense, and the 3-4 weeks they got off in August and now they are missing a week of their 3-4 week recess. Then there is the 4th of July recess, and the Easter Recess. I can see how it is stressful when you have a 3-4 day a week work week. You also get to travel home at the tax payers expense and some Senators even get paid to take military planes home.
Lets reduce the stress of the Senators and Congressmen and vote them all out of office and elect ones that will do the will of the people.

Come on, have a heart, some of the Republicans were complaining as well and it's because of them they're still there...lol! I will give them a little bit of a pass because it IS Christmas and I'm sure, like families everywhere, some of them had made plans a long time ago that they've had to change or cancel. I agree, I'd LOVE to see them work more hours and days and stop spending so much of our money but, again, both parties are guilty of that as well. As far as "voting them all out", time will tell how most of the people feel about whether or not their will has been done.

I agree and that is why I feel we need to totally replace them. Why do we have to rush this bill through and vote on things that we the people do not have the time to read before the vote us taken. To add a 600 page amendment and then vote on it before even senators have a chance to read and fact check it.
Look at the Stimulus bill and how that was rushed through just weeks after we were told that we the people would have 5 days to read it on line and talk to our congressmen and senators. I don't know about you but my phone calls are referred to voice mail message that the box is full. Emails are returned as mailboxes are full. They come home to meet with the people but by invitation only.
Anne quit blaming the Republicans for delaying this. There are 60 Democrat Senators and an overwhelming majority in the house. President Bush got things done by working with both sides. Closed door meetings with Democrats only is not bipartisanship.

The President reached out to the Republicans but practically from day one they've made it clear, as a group with no dissenters allowed, that they're not going to go along with ANYTHING he or the Democrats in Congress want. I'd like to know WHAT Bush got done by working with the Democrats. They were lied to and accused of being unpatriotic if they didn't give him all he wanted. Yes, they're as much to blame for that as he is in some cases, I concede that. I can't think of a single GOOD thing he got done, with or without help from the other party.
I've frequently e-mailed both of my Senators and my Congressman and I've never yet had an e-mail go unanswered. Sometimes I first get a message letting me know they've received my email but I always eventually get a reply that specifically addresses whatever issue I'd written about. I even occasionally get postal mail from my Congressman.
The health care bill hasn't even been merged between the two Houses of Congress so it's not as though it's been "passed" without us knowing what's in it. We're probably quite a ways away yet from it being passed and signed into law. I suppose they COULD shelve it until 2011, giving the GOP the time and opportunity to use the "failure" of getting health care passed on the part of the Democrats as a campaign strategy. That would "only" mean about 45,000 more people dying - IF it even were brought back up in 2011!

President Bush called in Democrats on the No Child Left Behind (the Kennedy-Kerry Bill) and put forward most of their ideas and only insisted on one thing some form of accountability.
Republicans have introduced Bills to:
1. allow tax credits (cost deducted from the tax owed) for individuals to purchase Health Insurance.
2. allow for portability of Health Insurance so you can take it with you where ever you move.
3. allow you to purchase Health Insurance across state lines the way you do other insurance.
4. allow for expanded Medical Savings Accounts giving people more control over who they see.
5. Address the issue of Tort Reform.
All of these bill were never even consider in committee and were not allowed to come to a vote
The way the system is set up now the insurance companies know that you can not do much about the problems because you don't pay them directly but your employer does and he may not always have your interest at heart.
With total control of the congress why is it taking so long to get a bill passed and why are we having to pay the bribes to certain Senators for their vote. Isn't this a major platform plank of the Democratic Party and shouldn't they all be on board? This does not pass the smell test

Better yet, lets put them on trial and execute them swiftly as an example to all the other future traitors to the Constitution.
