Portable mylot friends

When I started here on mylot, I was addicted! I was here all the time! Answering discussions. Posting discussions. I was up on the latest "troll" activity and knew who the "spammers" were. But about 10 months ago, I started an etsy shop selling my handmade crafts and moved my addiction there! But along the way, I found that some of my mylot friends were rather "portable". There are several who have become regular e-mail friends and others that I "see" all the time on facebook. It's strange how people you have never met in the "real world", can really become a part of your life! This was quite surprising to me since I'm only a couple of years into the whole cyber-world experience. Have you had "portable" friends here from mylot? How about from other websites? What surprises you about friendships online? Any great "real life" stories about your online friend experiences? Oh...... and Merry Christmas!!

I've emailed one person off of mylot, but in the past there were a couple of people I would talk to off of another forum site either through texting, or on the phone, or through emailing. It's amazing how many friends you meet online and how they touch your life in so many ways. I've never "met" any of them though.

I've not met any in person either. I often think it would be great though. Especially since many of them live in places that I would love to visit! Thanks for your response!:)

Portable friends huh? I like that. I have a few friends on myLot that I have on Facebook. I guess after you spend enough time with a cyber friend they can become your real friend, depending if they stay the same person. I've been the same on here forever so I'm the same on Facebook.

I know what you mean about being the same. There were a few friends here that didn't translate well to facebook. Mylot is very conservative and "clean". On facebook, I found a couple of them to be quite foul and ended up droppping them as friends there. Live and learn! Thanks, gitfiddleplayer! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too! I've made lots of friends online, some who have been friends for over 10 years. Quite a few have moved past the original site where I met them and into email and IM format. Many I have had the pleasure of meeting in person. In many cases online friends are more real to me than people living right next door. Sharing experiences, good and bad, for all those years really adds a lot of solidity to cyber friends. We may not ever gaze into each other's eyes, but we get to know each others souls very well. Oh....and I married one of them! We've been married for almost 6 years.

Nice idea you got for friends over the net. I think you are correct to say it. Friends that you can carry anywhere. One nice thing the internet brings to us.
