Mom had an MRI done on Tuesday but because of her kidneys being as bad as they are, they couldn't put the dye in her veins because her kidneys couldn't handle it so they had to take extra pictures of her brain. They gave her a CD of the results so she could take to her doctor that afternoon. The doctor told mom that he saw nothing wrong with her brain so he doesn't know what's causing her dizziness other than it was from the stroke but will have to wait for the report from the MRI to see what it says before he can prescribe her anything. So we don't know if it's inner ear or brain damage from the stroke. Hopefully the report will tell him something. Hopefully!! Mom was fine for the most part of the trip but when she got home, she said her head started to hurt and then she had one of the worst dizzy spells she has ever had then about 15 minutes later, she got so dizzy that she couldn't hold her head up and went straight to bed. Dad had to hold her head up to take an aspirin. Today she's better but not up to par just yet but is better. Also, she asked her doctor if it could be weather related because she's noticed that when it's raining or snowing, anything to do with moisture, is when her dizziness really acts up and he said yes, it could very well have something to do with the atmosphere but doesn't know for sure. So folks, we're back on square one again. Heck, we never left square one to begin with but here we stay..... a wee bit longer. Hopefully the doctor will get something from the report otherwise, she'll have to just deal with it until and IF it goes away. So I guess I'll be cleaning her house from now on. lol No pun intended!! Bad joke but one nonetheless.....

Hi Jo! Mom has been checked out by so many doctors and so far no one knows what's wrong with her. Maybe once the report comes in, there will be something in it that the doctor couldn't see himself. Either way, whether mom has an inner ear problem or brain damage, there's no cure but there is treatment but we have to know which it is to know what to treat her for. All we can do is hope and believe me, we're hoping!

Oh noooooo...I sure hope they find something with the MRI, Cats. It's no fun at all when a loved one has had a stroke or several. Specially if they end up with unrepairable damage from it. You and your family are in my prayers...
Merry Christmas!

I am sorry you did not get better news. You are so nice to take care of things for her. Although you don't see you have any choice, so many would turn the other way.

hi catsanddogs could her dizziness possibly be from her ears,I know my husband had that and they gave him some sort of medication that finally cleared it up. Honest I am not playing
doctor as I realize you have good medical help there that will
figure it all out. I have not been dizzy in a very long time but once in awhile when my blood glucose gets way too low the room will spin till I get it up to normal.Your poor mom and poor you not knowing is so hard, its easier even if its sort of bad news to know exactly what is wrong. You can handle that better I think.
Hope you all find out soon cats and Happy Holidays and a hug from hatley.

They checked her ears and it's not that. They don't know what to think but maybe the report will tell. We only hope so. It's been a long long road and it seems to get longer but we're hanging on the best that we can. Mom has her good days and bad days now instead of being dizzy all the time, it's a part time thing now so maybe it is going away.... slowly? Do you know what the medication is that your husband had to take? They have mom on Valium which they say works for dizziness and it has but it makes mom so sleepy for the rest of the day. She hates taking it and who can blame her?
Mom and I, when we don't eat soon enough when we get hungry, we'll both get dizzy from lack of sugar or as you say, glucose in our system so I do understand what you mean by that but this with mom is something different. If they only could find the problem which they may not because of mom's kidneys not being able to handle the dye, we'd feel somewhat better from just knowing what the cause is. Like you said, the not knowing is so hard.
Happy Holidays to you too sweetie!! and a big ole hug from Cats! lol
