Some prices are actually higher after the Christmas holiday

I went to return a couple of computer accesorry items today, and went to the electronic stores once again in hope to find some cheap and discounted items that interest me. Surprisingly, the items that I originally had eyes on, was expensive after the Holiday. I thought the price was always cheaper the day after Christmas. Now, I am wrong. So, after I return those items. I exit the door empty - handed. I probably have to look at other advertisings to find some on - sale stuff. Is that always been the case, the price usually getting cheaper after Christmas? Anyway, toward the end of the year, they might want to clear out the on - hand inventory right?

It all depends on the store, I think. Some prices are a lot cheaper after Christmas, but some of the pre-Christmas sales are so good that they won't be duplicated again. I think the stores mark down a lot of the stuff after Christmas that get returned by customers. So I usually wait a week or two before looking for good deals.

I might do it as well. I just couldn't think of the price will go up again after Christmas. That explained why not much people shop at that store today. Usually, it was packed at the Major Holiday sales. I might wait a bit longer then.

You've really got to be careful. Prices fluctuate so much at anywhere retail! I work at Macy's, and surprisingly enough, I noticed a lot of price changes that didn't really make sense. One example is that there were MUCH better deals at their sale on December 24th (Christmas Eve) than on Black Friday! Which is supposedly one of the biggest shopping days of the year. I'm one of the many people who put up the sale and take it down, meaning scanning every barcode and checking prices! So I saw many particular items both days that had totally different price points. It was so weird! One pretty necklace set that was originally $80 (I had my eye on this one..I thought it might make a good gift) was $40 on Black Friday (half off) and then on super-duper-sale on X-mas eve for $14!! It's so whacky. And this is just the start of it. Prices that are on sale one day won't necessarily be on sale the next day. And one day it might be 25% off, and the next day it might be 75%. I seriously don't know who's in charge of this..But it's really goofy! And I'm sure it's a put-off for people who come on the days when the sale ISN'T as good as the other day. *shrugs*

I scratched my head, and don't know what to say honestly. I couldn't pay for something was originally on sale, and I just might think of myself got rip - off if I insist on buying it. I might wait for another opportunity though. Thanks for the info.

Well, from what I have noticed in our area, the prices have gone up during the Christmas holiday. Usually after the holiday, perhaps a week or two, the prices would go down. I usually wait around about a week or two considering that most stores will be doing some inventory sale or clearance sale. But I guess, as you have said, prices are really unstable this days. Maybe perhaps its due to the economy. A lot of factors are affecting the supply and demand.

Well I know that stores normally cut their prices so that they would capitalise on the volume of people that would be buying .However I guess that after the christmas holiday they raise it back up to capitalise on the low volumes.I would have thought though they could at least wait until the new year to raise back the prices I mean only one day ,that so cold

Really? That's not usually the case in my country. Hmmm.. maybe store owners believe that people are richer after christmas (or at least buyers). those who would go to stores are mostly those who have received lots of money for Christmas (mostly children?). Other than that, I cant really think of other reasons lol.
