Sherlock Holmes the movie - have you seen it? What was your opinion on it?

Last night I went to "Sherlock Holmes" - and it was OK. I felt like it was too long. I don't know if it was anything like the books because I'd never read them (the movie we wanted to see had been sold out.. So we went to the next available one. And that's how I ended up seeing this movie!). It certainly had a lot of hard-to-follow twists in the plot. I found a lot of their witty, british "banter" to be cute and funny, though. My one complaint is the ending. It leaves it pretty much at a cliff-hanger, promising that there will be a sequel. (Although I assume it largely depends on how well this one does in the box office.) What were your feelings about this movie? Or, if you haven't seen it yet, are you anticipating seeing it?

I haven't yet seen it. I loved the Jeremy Brett version though... I would love to see this one and compare it. I just have a feeling it could be a disappointment compared to the original television series. But surely I will give it a shot.

If you haven't seen Jeremy Brett act as Sherlock Holmes, you should see it. He was fabulous.

I liked the movie in spite of myself. I hadn't been going because I didn't feel that Robert Downey Jr. is "right" for Holmes, but I felt he did a good job of filling some very hard to fill shoes. I felt maybe his Holmes was written a bit TOO crazy, but only in a few places, after all, most of the things they had him doing were written of in the books.

I have not seen it yet, but I want to. I really like Robert Downey Jr. I think I am supposed to go see this on New Years weekend.

For a person who has read and is a big fan of the original books, I would say that I liked the movie, although being somewhat sort of a purist, I don't like the liberties they took with Irene Adler's character. This aside, I think the cliff hanger was OK for me, as I have read the books, although I'm sure it's going to be pretty different when it gets to the movie screen. Like you, I also love the cute banter between Holmes and Watson, and the fight scenes I must admit are superb. I think Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law played their characters very well, and I enjoyed the scientific explanations in the end.

I saw - and I liked it a lot. I am a HUGE RDJ fan -but Somehow I thought it could have had a little MORE--what I don't know just MORE.. humor maybe.. But Over all I enjoyed it. And look forward to seeing a sequel- they did set it up very nicely for some more interaction with Professor Moriarty in the future.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but i am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, i used to read books about it, and i am sure the movie is also good, you are right, there are lots of twists and will really confuse the viewer if we will not focus on it and if we will not think deeply, Sherlock Holmes is really good and i am hoping to see it soon. Have a great day!

The first time I saw the previews, I thought this movie would be big. I haven't seen it, but know that I know more about it, I think its not so great- for one thing I do NOT think Jude Law was a good pick for Watson. Isn't Watson supposed to be a cute little fat man? w
