In Catholic religion and belief christening is very important. It's a sign of blessing in the name of Christ, it removes original sin from Adam and Eve. But I known some catholic people who take for granted their child's baptism. How about you, do you believe the importance of baptism in your child? How many Godmother and Godfather you have for your child?

I was baptized when I was just a child. But when I already grew up and started to comprehend the real meaning or significance of baptism --and it is a sign or symbol of repentance, I realized that children, especially infants, still do not know what is right or wrong and therefore do not "sin" yet should not be baptized. Anyway I respect your belief. In the bible there is no incidence of baptism of children instead adults and those people who were already in the age of reason, capable to repent, were the ones who were baptized. Jesus clearly states that "the kingdom of heaven belongs to children or little ones," therefore by saying that, God protects the little children from sins and evil even if they don't know it and when they die they will surely go to heaven. Baptism, as I have said earlier is a sign of repentance of sins and turning away from it. The fruit of repentance is new life in Christ, therefore only adults can repent, not infants. Without repentance there can be no baptism. God bless.

Hi careguarden, My children are all adults now but they were baptised as children and each had two Godfathers and one Godmother. However, I no longer believe as I once did and see no need for baptism or other rites of the church. I don't tell others that they should not folow the church's teachings but I do encourage people to think fot themselves. Blessings.
