I mean haven't you ever made a resolution that I'll lose weigh.. Or I'll spend less or I'll not eat so much junk or I'll eat healthier... YEar after Year After Year?
When do we just take responsibility for ourselves and actually do what we need to do to accomplish the goals that we want? I mean why can't we just start any time of year? Why does it have to be the New Year?
I mean there's nothing that has changed from the day before to the present day... Is it just because it feels like a fresh beginning? IF so how can it be a fresh start when every year we are getting older and older.
Should we jsut forget about New Years Resolutions and actually take life by the horns and get this crap done by now?!!!

i dont have any resolution, i just live from day to day. if i have plans for the new year those are things that i need to achieve or things that i need to persue. like bring my wife and child on disney land. but i dont have any resolutions like losing weight or things like that. those things can be done even it is not a new year. you just need to focus and push yourself and get excited. if a thing bores you then it is hard to get an achievement. goodluck on losing weight.

I only have one resolution this year and that's in not going out to eat as much. My husband and I are always out to eat. So this year my plains are to actually cook at home. So far so good. We didn't realize how much we spend till the end of last year all the money we spent on going out to eat. It actually made us sick to think about it.

yes eating out is really expensive, by eating home you can save monsy and make sure that you eat healthy. my wife is a good cook and that helps our budget. my family has diabetes and high blood pressure and she gives me food that will make me healthy. though i dont have diabetes and high blood pressure she still watch what i put inside my mouth. we eat out but not all the time. if we eat out she makes sure we still eat healthy and not greese. good for you that you eat more at home. stay healhty!

Well I'm a good cook but only when I want too.. So I haven't been cooking. Until the new year started. And it's pretty much still crappy meals. But easy on the budget not so much on the wasteline.
But first step is to continue cooking. Second step is to start cooking healthy foods that we should be eating. But I'm finally noticing it's easier to cook at home. And it doesn't take much effort. Just need to make different and unique meals that are good for us but also different. I'm optimistic about our future meals.

Hi neededhope,
I am actually a huge fan of making New Year's resolutions for myself. I am still sort of young (22) and so haven't had too many years of failed resolutions which could be why, but I like them. I like the idea of a new year being a fresh start, and having a goal for that year. My goal for last year was to get better because a previous goal was to lose weight and I took the bull by the horns and did just that. This year having achieved last years goal I am aiming to finish this year with a job and a house, and if I fail it I will pass the resolution to 2011 because this is vitally important to my state of well being now I believe. After I have managed that though I am not sure if resolutions will be as important since I will run out of meaningful things to do, but I hope I will still enjoy them. I need goals to work towards and resolutions are a good excuse for me to set those goals
.
All the best,

I can see your point of setting those goals to work towards something. But not sure if keep pushing year to year is the way to do it. Unless it's a big goal such as starting a family or buying a house.
I quess this post was mostly because of my frustration of not being able to complete my goals from years ago. And not pushing for them like I should. Thanks for reminding me of why we do make them.

I like making New year's resolutions, but I agree that they tend to be the same every year. However, I do think it helps me because I am more motivated to work on things.

But are you only motivated to work on things in the beginning of the year because of the resolution or does it push you forward thru out the year?

When I was in grade school, I made new year's resolution because it was the in thing to do and the teachers made us write about it.
Now I'm much much older and I have stopped making new year's resolutions because I don't get to do them anyway. I only make new year's wishes to be safe.
But a few year's back I had one resolution which I really did it for a year and that was that. The one I made was not to drink soda for a year and I did it. Well, it was due to my health so I really had to do it. Now, I'm back to drinking soda but not that often. It's not a new year's resolution anymore but yeah more on being responsible for one's self.

in particular, I have never made a resolution a year goals will come, or to evaluate what has been achieved last year ... I am adopts comprehension to let life flow as it is ... This does not mean I don't have hope to improve a better life, only I don't want to care for evaluation or resolution of life

I think we all hope our lives will improve in some way. But may resolutions are meant to help to push us to our goals... Than again most people don't finish resolutions so I"m unsure.

For the last few years it has been the same after years of failure. Not to make a new years resolution for the next year. It tends to get broken. I find that actually making a New Year's Resolution will cause me to lose interest in whatever I am trying to accomplish. Therefore, I just do what I have to do without making any grand plan that is going to broken a few months in anyway.

Hi,
I absolutely agree with you. Though making resolution on a special day like our birthday or on the very starting of a year makes it sound more important, I think we can make these resolution any time of the year. We often couldn't keep a promise that we make to ourselves, and that is perhaps because we don't provide a mechanism to constantly remind ourselves about the resolution.
Take care
God bless you

I guess it's the feeling of a fresh start that overwhelms us to make a resolution. I don't have a new year's resolution, too, because it usually ends up as a disappointment to myself...year after year. I make amends any time of the year as it is needed.
