Has Your Cat Ever Built A Nest?

My husband found some almost-new throw pillows when a man moved out of a neighbouring apartment, leaving them there. He brought them into our apt, and out them on the floor, thinking we'd figure out what to do with them later. Next to the cushions I had a box with a few books in it. Well, Shakti pulled up one pillow leaning it against the inside of the box, another one against the other side of the inside of the box, and then pulled the third one into the middle, laying it flat, making himself the purrrr-fect little nest. This was about a week ago, and next to eating, sleeping, and occasinally joining us on the couch for a pet and a snuggle, and running around the apartment a couple of times a day, he has not left the confort of his nest.

My cat thinks that she can be in any spot she wants, but her favorite is a chair with nice soft blanket on it. She sleeps there all day long and at least half of the night (the other half she is stepping on me)...

Oh my God! Even cats can discover ways and means for comfort. This is amazing. I would have felt more happy had you uploaded the nest photo and the cat in it.

I think that's the same idea as the attraction of boxes for a cat..the more snug the box is for them,the better! My furball used to go out into the garden when I'd not got around to cutting the grass and create a nest for himself in the long stuff..Apparently cats were tree dwellers at one point in their development..maybe it's a throwback memory thing for them...

OMG..i have bed nesters.
they rearrange the covers to their liking,and make big nests to sleep in.
of course i get grumbles when it's time to sleep,but..
one of my others likes laundry hampers.he tunnels under the clothes and plays peekaboo when you walk by.

your cat must be cool :)
Our cat likes to lay on a piece of paper or a plastic bag on the floor for some off reason. Right now he's laying on the bed. He's so sweet, he knows I don't feel well.

aaawww! that is just so cute. they can do the funniest things. mine always liked climbing into anything to hide and sleep or even just play hide and seek and jump out at you my little dog even sometimes does such things.

We recently brought home a box from Aldy. The cats have adopted their nest. They put their toys in it and fight over who gets first dibs. Its not as popular now that Chinnia started to chew on on, but my cat Precious wouldn't leave it except to eat.
