Is there a "No speed limit" highway in Germany? |
| |
| Had anyone traveled to Germany before? I heard a co - worker who recently been to Germany, some interesting he told us. There is a highway where it has no speed limit, you can drive as fast as you can. Isn't that crazy? People might driving like crazy in that country, and there might be a lot of accident happen then. Is that a truth? I just want to verify this fact. | | | | | |

| | So, it is called autoban? Wow, I didn't really know. So, people can drive as fast as they want, and they won't have to worry about the police patrols in the perimeter? | | | |

| | Yes there is, I believe is called the Autoban but I have never been there so I will defer to Mylotters who have or who do live there. I am also not sure if it is entirely without speed limits but for the most part I think is. | | | | | | |

| | It's only on Autobans, and If I'm right only at the left line. Of cause it's not always a good thing. One crash usually gets about 50 cars involved =) | | | | | | |

| | Can't say that I know about Germany. But I believe you are right. There are roads in Montana in USA that don't have a speed limit either. At least they didn't used to have a speed limit. | | | | | | |

| | As others have mentioned, the Autobahn is world famous. I'm not so sure speed limits really prevent accidents to tell you the truth. They are frequently ignored by drivers even where they exist, and often the limits are set pretty arbitrarily. It's always been my impression that they're primarily a revenue generation tool for governments and not really about safety. | | | | | | |
