| | Go to a pet store. They have medication other than the shampoo available over the counter. They work rather quickly. Also, fleas can only be killed by cutting them in half, use your fingernail. Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | I didn't mean to sound so dull about the pet store. I meant go to the pet store to get the medication instead of the Vet. It's cheaper and it's the same stuff. Our dogs had them a few summers back and only the medication worked. | | | |

| | So I just have a cat, but I'm pretty sure the same rules apply=) Work the shampoo into a good lather, use plenty, and put it on EVERYWHERE!! Beneath the tail, around the genitalia, behind ears, crefully around the face, under the arms. Do this every other day. Comb your dogs with a special FLEA comb, beginning from the face, ending at the tail. Make sure to cover it with petrolleum jelly, and keep putting it back on, so the fleas will stick to the comb. If you put it on a towel, you will see how many there were. And just keep on doing this, getting rid of any speck you can find, because they reproduce VERY quickly. U could always use Advantage, it works very well, but is a bit on the pricey side. Also, vacuum the car, vaccuem the sofa and carpet VERY well, and if you can, steam clean. That way, they will drown, and will be sucked up into the machine. Scrub every nick and cranny. (They hide anywhere, I found one trying to get in my electric outlet.) Wipe everything down with Lysol. Change the bed sheets. Make sure there is nothing on your bed. trust me, all this has got to work, and it will definitately be worth it. Remember to be very careful yourself, fleas can jump up to 4 feet!!! | | | | | | |

| | That shampoo you buy at walmart and where ever is JUNK! We finally had to hire Orkin or whoever to come out and spray the house... they do 2 treatments and then there's a 30 day guarantee on it. So after the 2 treatments we still saw the fleas... so Orkin came back out... I think they came out one or two more times and now we've been good. They are a SOB to get rid of... let me tell you what. Make sure you're REALLY SCRUBBING if you're going to stick with a shampoo... but by the last time Orkin came out, I finally gave up on the store bought things (including shampoos, sprays, flea bombs for the house and collars) and bought frontline or advantage or oneo f those. If you go on ebay you can save a few $$ on them. Have you had them for awhile? Because you really want to make sure they're not thru your house. I don't know where you live... but I know here its darn cold enough there shouldn't be any fleas around??? | | | | | | |

| | I have the same problem with my dog which recurs every few months. Everytime we have an infestation (I'm exaggerating a bit) we would comb and take out the ticks everyday. Apart from shampooing with medicated shampoo, we also buy Frontline because it's the only one that really works. But like what others said, you have to sanitize your environment too because the eggs and fleas can survive there and find their way back to the dog. I think mine picks them up again out on the steeet | | | | | | |

| | Yes ! my dog too had a lot of them, and the doc said to disinfect the area they sleep as well for about a week continuously, because the eggs have a hatching cycle of a week, and getting rid of them from the body is not sufficient. The space where the pet stays should be disinfected every morning and evening for at least seven days. The dog itself has to be bathed too for seven days with the shampoo you said, and also there is medicated belt available in the market, it should be put around the neck of your dog, and this belt needs to be changed every 6 months. It has not to get wet at all or it will lose it's medicative powers, I followed this regime or my dog and now past 2 years we have not a single tick or bug on him. otherwise there was a time when these ticks were walking up our walls, on our bed, climbing on our legs and literally were all over our body too. WE were thinking of giving it away, But God Bless the doc, we've not seen a single one of those creepy creatures since then | | | | | | |
