The fox is definitly the best character in Lord of the Rings. It's just there, doesn't do much but probably has some deep meaning that I never will get :-)
Seriously, I don't really have a favourite character, although I've always like Tom Bombadil. He is so annoyingly out of tune with the rest of the world, everyone else is more or less worried, he just jumps around and has fun.
