| | If you're traveling alone, it might be more economical to stay in a hostel.
That's where I stayed when I was there ten years ago. I stayed at the HI Hostel on Amsterdam Avenue, and I was really impressed at how clean it was, and how close to everything it was.

| |  Hotels in New York are extemely expensive. Try one of the smaller ones where you get a tiny room or have a shared bath. The Pod Hotel is new and very popular.
